Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg Being Treated for Cancer Again

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has just completed three weeks of radiation treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the U.S. Supreme Court disclosed Friday.

Pancreatic cancer has a 20% 1 year survival rate.

Good thing we didn't elect Clinton.

If she can hold out until 2020, I was told McConnell was against appointing Supreme Court justices during an election year.

If Trump wins in 2020, I'd recommend RBG step down and try to enjoy her remaining time away from politics.

Good thing we didn't elect Clinton.

3 Supreme Court justices and hundreds of judicial appointments?

Yea. Good thing Trump got elected. Kavanaugh can boof RBG.

Yeah, it's one of the nasty ones. I feel badly for her.

#4 | Posted by goatman at 2019-08-23 10:17 PM

Painful too, from what I understand. Harsh to say, but the best thing about it is it acts fast.

I hope she is comfortable and with family.

#5 | Posted by truthhurts at 2019-08-23 10:20 PM

No, it is not harsh to wish a quick death from a painful cancer like that. That would be my most fervent hope if it was me.

#6 | Posted by goatman at 2019-08-23 10:23 PM

"If she can hold out until 2020, I was told McConnell was against appointing Supreme Court justices during an election year."

That only counts when there's a Democratic president:

"Were Ginsburg to leave the court prior to the 2020 election or even the inauguration, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell has made clear the GOP would move immediately to fill the vacancy. That would ensure a 6-to-3 conservative majority on the court, all but guaranteeing a conservative grip on the court for decades to come."

"Good thing we didn't elect Clinton."

Good thing there's no difference between Democrats and Republicans.

David Koch donated $150 million to build the cancer treatment center that treated Ruth Bader Ginsburg for pancreatic cancer.

#9 | Posted by AndreaMackris at 2019-08-23 11:45 PM

That bastard!

The Obama's just donated $15 million to their new Martha's Vineyard estate.

And that is funny to you because....

I dunno. Just all the vultures that have been circling over RBG for so long tossing out a David Koch meme as if he was trying to help.

I find it amusing.

#13 | Posted by REDIAL at 2019-08-24 12:35 AM

I give her 6 months. Once you have The Cancer at that age it's over.

Fair enough, you usually don't throw out lame FF's or laugh about something "ironically" (in the worst misusage of the word) so I was confused.

Don't get me wrong, I love RBG and hope she lives another 10 years.

That's partisan crap. I expected better of you.
He stated that that only counts when there is a mismatch between the political party of the Senate Majority Leader and the President.

McConnell indicated during an interview with Fox News that which party controls the Senate and the White House is a crucial factor in determining if a vacancy gets filled.

"You have to go back to 1880s to find the last time a Senate controlled by a party different from the president filled a vacancy on the Supreme Court that was created in the middle of a presidential election year," he said.

He's consistently held this stance, and a 2020 SC vacancy would not fall into those criteria.

he also noted in a February 2016 floor speech that it had been 130 years since "a nominee was confirmed in similar circumstances," referring to divided government.

There is a unintended effect of life time appointments, sometimes the conservatives become more liberal, and sometimes liberals become more conservative.

#17 | Posted by docnjo at 2019-08-24 07:36 AM

RBG is a survivor. Amazing woman

#18 | Posted by GOnoles92 at 2019-08-24 09:08 AM

I guess in keeping with the lefties hateful comments when Koch died, we can return the favor when RBG shuffles off this mortal coil.

#19 | Posted by MSgt at 2019-08-24 12:38 PM

She's not long for this world. Everyone brace yourself for another "The-candidate-looked-at-this-woman-funny-32-years-ago" debacle ala Kavanaugh.

Don't stoop to their execrable level.

#21 | Posted by Rightocenter at 2019-08-24 01:31 PM

It's a good thing that the Democrats had a crushing victory in the 2018 mid-term elections. At least that's what some people here keep telling me.

"Once you have The Cancer at that age it's over."

Jimmy Carter says hi.

#23 | Posted by sentinel at 2019-08-24 02:16 PM

--but Jimmy Carter can shingle a roof in one afternoon.

Something you'll never see Barack Obama doing. He has other priorities: schmoozing with the rich and famous on luxury yachts and in Martha Vineyards mansions.

#25 | Posted by nullifidian at 2019-08-24 02:30 PM

More proof that Barack Obama is no Jimmy Carter.

Glad that age old debate can finally be settled.

She should resign so she can focus on her health and enjoy her remaining days as she tries to beat this disease.

#28 | POSTED BY VISITOR_"

She should. It's highly unlikely she is going to survive long enough so Trump doesn't appoint her replacement, even if he does lose the next election.

#29 | Posted by goatman at 2019-08-24 04:41 PM

If she passes next year, surely McConnell will say they can't confirm a new SC judge, what with the election and how we'll have to 'let the American people decide,' right?

BTW, she's survived this before. The doctors say they got it all an no sign of cancer anywhere.

We'll see.

#30 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2019-08-24 06:03 PM

"The doctors say they got it all an no sign of cancer anywhere."

So the doctors are treating her for cancer even there are no signs of it? Um, OK.

#30 | POSTED BY AMERICANUNITY A

Actually, they didn't say that. They said no sign of cancer *else*where, not *any*where. FTA:

"Doctors at Sloan Kettering said further tests showed no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body. " (meaning outside the pancreas as the context of the story makes clear)

Why do liberals rely more on their hopes than they do facts? Did you really think that changing one syllable of the doctor's statement would make it so?

Anyway, I hope the doctors got it. Unlike you, Americanunity, I do not wish ill on people just because I disagree with their politics. You clearly do as you made clear when you stated you hoped Mitch McDOnnel suffers a paralyzing stroke.

Liberals are funny critters

#32 | Posted by goatman at 2019-08-24 06:31 PM

"So the doctors are treating her for cancer even there are no signs of it? Um, OK."

Not really...

Once the procedure is done, doctors assess whether they believe they've been able to address all the cancerous parts. In this case, they believe they have, but I've often heard it compared to getting all the sand out of your clothing. It can seem like you got every grain, when it's quite possible you missed a few.

"Doctors at Sloan Kettering said further tests showed no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body. " (meaning outside the pancreas as the context of the story makes clear)"

They had to check to see if it had metastasized; which is usually a death sentence. It hadn't.

#35 | Posted by Danforth at 2019-08-24 06:34 PM

She's been treated for various forms of cancer for 20 years.

A small, localized tumor on her pancreas is hardly a death sentence.

Let's hope not, even though pancreas cancer is one of the nastier ones.

Anyone here truly believe that evil bitch, with the record to prove it has breathed oxygen in the past 6 months?

Y'all really are still that stupid.

#39 | Posted by 9mmHeater at 2019-08-25 04:09 AM

She needs to be home resting instead of being used as a partisan tool by the democrats. She needs to be put out to pasture so another justice can be put on the court. But because it's Republicans in charge, she will be partisan and just sit in the seat half dead to avoid that.

So spiteful.

#40 | Posted by boaz at 2019-08-25 09:30 AM

What I read is that it was detected early, aggressively treated and that doctors felt they got all of it.

I hope that's true.

She is a tough woman and she's beaten cancer twice already.

#41 | Posted by JeffJ at 2019-08-25 09:55 AM

Cancer therapy is still in the Dark Ages.
They're either poisoning or radiating her to death.
