Republican Sen Spends Hours Attacking Impeachment Witness

Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn spent hours attacking Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a key National Security Council aide who testified before Congress on the Ukraine scandal, on Twitter Thursday, including questioning the Purple Heart recipient's patriotism.

So she's defends Trump, Russia's greatest friend.

Sadly, nothing she said made any sense to anyone with a functioning brain.

So she's your average righty then.

Sad but not surprising this is coming from the "Solid South".

I watched Vindman testify to Congress. He struck me as a 'career, deep state, longtime taxpayer paid beauracrat' and a Trump hater who definitely knows who the whistle blower is. In fact Vindman may even have been one of the sources for the whistle blower.

#4 | Posted by SJHamilton at 2020-01-24 08:59 AM

Hmmm. Too bad there's no way these allegations can be fleshed out, say, with Lt. Col. Vindman having to tell the truth in an open court of some source, having been placed under oath.

Oh, right--I forgot that he already has, and could be called upon to do so, in the impeachment trial.

Marsha, Marsha, Marsha: just lift your skirt in front of Sen. McConnell (R-No Shoes State) and he might be inclined to have witnesses called. Or not...

Marsha Blackburn is, was and always will be a nut case only right wing idiots would vote for.

Of course he did.

That's what dear leader told you to think. So you "think" it.

"He (Vindman) struck me as a 'career, deep state, longtime taxpayer paid beauracrat (sic)"

The man is a soldier who was wounded in action.

You Trumpites are, without exception, mean and sour old fools.

If he is, the next Administration should advance him to full Colonel.

Because he is a career military man? I thought you fools were pro-military. You don't get to general on a 4-year enlistment.

He sounded like a professional who wasn't going to be unnerved or intimidated by a bunch of loons who were only looking for ways to discredit him or put doubt in his testimony. The man is a patriot. If I was a betting man given his tenure and rank I would bet he is even a true conservative.

SJHamilton, even in posts online, has the amazing ability to still sound exactly like a parrot.

Ugh, I was really getting behind the Libs on this one until this stupid statement:

""That a member of the Senate -- at a moment when the Senate is undertaking its most solemn responsibility -- would choose to take to Twitter to spread slander about a member of the military is a testament to cowardice. While Senator Blackburn fires off defamatory tweets, Lieutenant Colonel Vindman will continue to do what he has always done: serve our country dutifully and with honor.""

So I guess protesting at veterans' funerals is OK though. Denying parades and celebrations for returning military since Vietnam is OK. But OMG...put something on Twitter and it becomes a really big problem for Libs.

This is what I've been talking about. If you want Trump out, that's fine. Present the evidence and make a good case. But once you turn to using hypocrisy to spread hate, you lose people. Well, you lose the objective people who want what's best for the country. I know that demographic is becoming incredibly small so maybe it just doesn't matter anymore since it's not a huge pool of voters for either party.

Marsha Blackburn is an absolute piece of trash. She attacks an American HERO who was injured and received the purple heart while SERVING HIS COUNTRY in her defense of an American ZERO who when his time came to serve had his daddy's doctor fake a medical excuse so he could have some poorer kid take his place FIVE TIMES. Others have served with bone spurs, but not BLOTUS. Fat Nixon can't even remember which foot was supposedly afflicted by the fake bone spurs.

I am fascinated to know what experience and/or training has brought you to the point of being a subject matter expert on this.

What are you crying about now?

Democrats don't protest at veteran's funerals. It's wrong, but legal according to the Conservative Supreme Court though.

And then you reach back 40 years to Vietnam?

If you want attacking military vets, look at Trump going after POWs and Gold Star Families.

As for the impeachment, the call is there. Trump's own people say he bribed them. And Mulvaney admitted it already. Trump even admitted he has all the documents proving he bribed them. What more evidence do you want? And why hasn't a single defense witness testified to defend Trump?

You don't live in the same universe I do, you just don't.

To the extent some people disrespected Veterans during Vietnam, and they did exist, most of them now have children who are or have served in the Armed Forces.

It's widely known that veterans are almost worshipped in this country.

The exceptions are not Liberals. They are the people who trash-talk war wounds and honorable service WHENEVER it contravenes their sick, neo-fascist Trump world.

Vindman is a hero. He paid with blood for that title > Donald Trump is a disgusting coward who never, ever attempts to be brave.

Unfortunately the talking heads spend to much time trying to understand how elected republicans can take the positions that they take. It's easy! They are political cowards unwilling to confront their voters. More time should be spent trying to understand republican voters.

Do defense attorneys ever destroy prosecution witnesses?

#21 | Posted by Petrous at 2020-01-24 08:38 PM

Do defense attorneys ever destroy prosecution witnesses?

all the time... people tend to be untruthful (lie) in court.

What Ms. Blackburn is doing is setting up perjury traps so that others can ask the same question in a different way to see if he answers differently.

This is JUST the opening salvo... it will get a lot rougher later on... all that is needed is for Vindman to be caught in a single lie... just one and then he can kiss his career and that fat pension good bye. He might even spend some time in jail. (It's is illegal to lie to anyone in the federal government)

Which is why you seldom see anyone from the military testify before congress in an open door meeting.

Congress votes on ALL promotions Col. and above. This guy will never be promoted and most likely be quietly asked to resign when all this is over.

#22 | Posted by Pegasus at 2020-01-25 10:33 AM

Sad they had to open with more lies, though.

#23 | Posted by YAV at 2020-01-25 10:34 AM

"all that is needed is for Vindman to be caught in a single lie... just one and then he can kiss his career and that fat pension good bye."

So...the Commander can lie all he wants with no consequences, but one lie from an enlisted man is doom?

This President has turned all his supporters into turds.

#24 | Posted by Danforth at 2020-01-25 10:40 AM

#24 - he really has let them finally show their true colors, hasn't he?

#25 | Posted by YAV at 2020-01-25 10:47 AM

#22 so the Repubs will destroy the man for loving his country more than their schitheap DOTUS?

#26 | Posted by jpw at 2020-01-25 11:44 AM

Other than "deep state" (which is a farce) literally none of those things are bad. You want "career" and "longtime" people working on sensitive matters of international diplomacy rather than some moron who just walked in the door. And yes, most Lieutenant Colonels are "taxpayer paid." When you find a way around that, let me know.

"Barely two weeks after Donald Trump took office, Eric Ciaramella " the CIA analyst whose name was recently linked in a tweet by the president and mentioned by lawmakers as the anonymous "whistleblower" who touched off Trump's impeachment " was overheard in the White House discussing with another staffer how to remove the newly elected president from office, according to former colleagues."

Nah, there's no deep state. lol
