GOP Senators Threatened if They Vote Against Trump

CBS News reports that Republican senators have been warned by President Trump team: "Vote against the president, and your head will be on a pike."

"Vote against the president, and your head will be on a pike."

You know, to a brave man or woman such a statement would be a challenge.

And they'll all be derelict in their duties as elected officials.

To the man.

Because re-election is more important than anything else. Even after decades of being there.

#2 | Posted by jpw at 2020-01-24 10:31 AM

Innocent people don't say things like this.

Jury tampering through threats from the defendant should be impeachable.

Fire up new impeachment hearings.

#4 | Posted by oldwhiskeysour at 2020-01-24 11:18 AM

Yet another example of "no obstruction!" in Trump World.

#5 | Posted by Derek_Wildstar at 2020-01-24 02:40 PM

Most of them would look better with their heads on a pike.

That being said, these political threats are just another aspect of the show trial created by Trump and the Turtle rather than the impeachment trial visualized in the Constitution.

The really sad part is all those conservatives with Pocket Constitutions going along with it. They might as well burn those now

If any of my clients ever threatened a juror in the way President Trump's team has threatened GOP Senators, they would be serving a lengthy prison sentence. It is outrageous. But again, nobody in the GOP cares. They have left common decency and goodness far behind.

#7 | Posted by moder8 at 2020-01-24 04:05 PM

No jury tampering to see here. Please move along.

#8 | Posted by contrecoup at 2020-01-24 04:09 PM

And the Senate Russiapublicans will cower in fear like the snowflakes they are.

#9 | Posted by aborted_monson at 2020-01-24 04:58 PM

Now did he actually say that is [most likely] more fallacious news about Trump like so much coming over the past three years.

#10 | Posted by MSgt at 2020-01-24 05:01 PM

What t-rump said was head on a fork but the staffer corrected it.

#11 | Posted by grumpy_too at 2020-01-24 08:33 PM

I suspect that the votes in the Senate will mirror the previous Senate trial.

The vote before it all began appears to mirror the previous trial.

Seems both trials are predetermined.

#12 | Posted by Petrous at 2020-01-24 08:41 PM

The R senators up for re those 23 should meet in secret and agree they are going to betray the rest of the party and convict. Or else a lot of them are going to lose with the dishonor they will deserve.

The surest way to save being head-piked is to convict Trump.
Remove Trump, remove the threat.

""Vote against the president, and your head will be on a pike."

Ut, oh ~ this is 'Vlad the Impaler' talk. Trump must have watched the TeeVee movie recently.

#17 | Posted by Twinpac at 2020-01-25 12:59 AM

You mean Democrats don't circle the wagons and strongly warn about breaking ranks like the republicans do?

hmmm. No wonder they are such losers

Actually it's more like Tudor era Lord Walsingham talk. Vlad impaled his victims through the belly a few hundred years earlier and a couple of thousand miles away

I see the pathetic anti-American POS named SporkGoat got his talking points.

A simple coup?

My thoughts exactly ~~ In a perfect world where everybody appreciated patriotism and sacrifice.

Now if they could only get the folks back home in red states to agree. If they couldn't they'd be throwing themselves on their own funeral pyre in November.

Not to mention the loss of campaign money from their Trump lovin' corporate contributors who ALSO are expected to give them a second career when they leave the Senate.

Other than that, it's a great idea. But we'd need a magic wand.

#21 | Posted by Twinpac at 2020-01-25 02:35 AM

A MAGIC WAND?"

What a delicious idea. If I had one of those I'd make Trump's nose grow every time he lied.~~ LOL

#22 | Posted by Twinpac at 2020-01-25 02:43 AM

And I remember that Dem congressmen were threatened that they had better not vote against Obamacare. More recently AOC threatened centrist dems that they would be "on a list" if they bucked the speaker.

I don't get why the dems have their panties in a wad over this. Are y'all unaware of how national politics work? Apparently so.

Continue your hand wringing and faux outrage.

ABORTED

"I see the pathetic anti-American POS named SporkGoat got his talking points."

Don't trouble yourself. With 36 plonks (gaining on Sniper) who's listening?

Another Schiff lie.

#26 | Posted by visitor_ at 2020-01-25 09:19 AM

Another Schiff lie.

Schiff hasn't lied.
If he had, I'd blast you for being a hypocrite for supporting the biggest liar we've ever had as a president.
So are you wrong, believe something that's a lie, or a liar yourself?

BTW - Trump's opening defense started with a lie today. The started with a lie during the amendment session, too. I suppose if your'e going to represent the biggest liar we've ever had, you might as well lie your a** off, too.

#27 | Posted by YAV at 2020-01-25 10:28 AM

"Vote against the president, and your head will be on a pike."

When you don't have a crime to prove, threaten the jury with violence, that should go over well.

#28 | Posted by AndreaMackris at 2020-01-25 11:11 AM

Senators should be penalized for lying on the senate floor.

Of course then we would just have a bunch of penalized senators.

"Fire up new impeachment hearings.

You may be on to something.

The elections will change everything.

This President may be the first President to ever be impeached twice.

Exactly. That's how the scientific method works, Mr. Self-proclaimed Scientist. Things are presumed until empirically proven.

A "scientist" who admonishes those who adhere to the scientific method. How odd.

#30 | Posted by goatman at 2020-01-25 05:52 PM

At heart Republicans really are cowardly children.

An adult would not react well to such a threat.

#31 | Posted by Tor at 2020-01-25 09:07 PM

When you don't have a crime to prove, threaten the jury with violence, that should go over well.

Schiff did nothing but report what CBS reported - and CBS was told that from the WH. The one threatening Senators is Trump. When Trump turns his twitter feed on you and rallies his crazy-ass 2nd amendment supporters, you better be careful.

thehill.com

So turn your anger where it belongs, and stop excusing the POS POTUS.
That goes doubly for those idiotic Senators that had their delicate sensibilities offended.

As I said, there's only one way to eliminate this threat - impeach and convict him.

Put America first, for once.
