More from the article ...

... Public health experts, including those who were on the frontlines of Covid-19 during the first Trump administration, say neither hantavirus nor Ebola represents an immediate threat to the average American.

But the trust deficit leftover from Covid is showing up in the public response to the two viruses -- and laying bare the challenge for public health officials if either escalates, or when the next major pandemic arrives.

That mistrust could be particularly pronounced within President Donald Trump's base, including some Make America Healthy Again supporters who embraced the so-called medical freedom movement during Covid. ...

If anything deadlier than Covid hits these shores, we're screwed.
Covid was a test. We failed the test and haven't studied for the following mid-term.
I can only hope the next bug concentrates in "gated communities".

If Ebola made it here, you'd see people snap to pretty quickly.

At first it starts like most other illnesses-fever, chills, aches, fatigue. But then as it progresses and the largely unchecked infection ravages your organs and tissues, your gums begin to bleed. Your eyes begin to bleed. The skin takes on a mottled appearance, covered in purple splotches as blood and liquifying tissue pools beneath the skin's surface.

Near the end, you start vomiting and spitting up bloody remnants of your lungs and stomach and, most gruesomely, your anal painter finally fails and your excrete the liquified remnants of your intestines. All of it containing small black specks that resemble coffee ground, which are partially digested blood clots.

I can't imagine seeing a friend or neighbor or loved one die like that not leaving a lasting mark on even the dumbest MAGA moron.

@#4 ... At first it starts like most other illnesses-fever, chills, aches, fatigue. ...

That's the huge issue with Ebola.

The initial symptoms looks like other illnesses, say, the flu.

So, while Ebola may not be contagious until symptoms appear, the symptoms that do appear are so similar to other ailments that those infected with Ebola may not act until others have been infected.
