Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

But they gave it their best shot. When the auctioneer announced their land, they immediately placed their bid -- and held their breath. Theirs was the first bid and David and his father anxiously waited to see who would bid next. But suddenly, the room went silent. David didn't understand what was happening and even the auctioneer was stupefied. He made further attempts to solicit a new bid, but got only silence. Stunned, he called a break. They reconvened -- three times -- and each time, not a single farmer placed a bid. The auctioneer finally had no choice, and with the strike of the gavel, David and his family had their land back.

David's family's 80 acres of land was sold to a distant relative and the family's property was gone.

Collusion indeed

Nice story.

But the dumb ---- that owned the land could've drawn a line and established a threshold for a "no sale" meaning that if it didn't generate a minimum price per acre then he wouldn't sell.

My late father-in-law was a 50 year auctioneer and he commonly had minimum price thresholds in order for sales to go through. He hated them because he knew there was a chance there would be no sale and no commission.

Interesting. I wonder why the land was willed away from David?

It's history repeating itself.

This has all happened before.

Before when it happened they wouldn't dare pull something like #3 suggested.

Kinda seems like they were hesitant this time, I mean, if it's as easy as #3 suggests.

They knew they would have got their stems snapped.

It's coming back around again.

Let me change up the story...

The current owners that put the farm up for auction were a gay couple that had an organic farm that went bankrupt and now has lost everything.

The family that is getting their old homestead back are going to grow genetically modified crops for ADM and lease some of the land to a factory farm raising veal.

The new owners also have a shop on the property.

They are building guillotines so we can get rid of the bankers who screwed them in the first place and all of their buddies.

Making ---- up is fun.
