LOL a GOP governor slashing education to keep welfare payments flowing.

I'm sure he's unaware of the irony.

Also, watch the state's young talent bleed dry. It'll be nothing but toothless rednecks in no time.

If I were in advertising I'd call it a sportsman's paradise. Hunting, fishing, or just shooting guns.

In a study of land grant universities, the University of Alaska Fairbanks ranked third for schools that received the most state funding. It's only exceeded by the University of Puerto Rico and and University of the District of Columbia.

While the Alaska university system receives more than 40 percent of its funding from the State of Alaska, the average among land grant universities across the United States is 25 percent.

Oregon State University, where some Alaskans get their higher education, receives less than 17 percent from the State of Oregon. OSU gets $182 million in state funds to support the teaching of its 29,000 students.

Washington State University gets 20 percent of its funding from that state's budget. And UC Berkeley gets only 14 percent of its funding from California taxpayers.

UAF gets $164 million from the State of Alaska, according to an analysis by the National Center for Education Statistics at the U.S. Department of Education. That supports 9,330 students, and comes out to a state subsidy of $17,577 per student per year, more than the state is spending for K-12 students' education.

Nullifidian since you say Universities are indoctrinating all the students who go to them, can you identify REQUIRED courses that do the indoctrinating?

UW Madison is often pejoratively called Berkeley East and the only courses that have anything to say about Marx are electives that present Marx in the context of one among many writers. The business school here teaches the same Conservative Chicago school economics where The main tenets are that free markets best allocate resources in an economy and that minimal or even no government intervention is best that all the other major business schools teach these days.

Nulli, if you understand you're being indoctrinated, you've tumbled onto the entire point of a college education. You're learning how to learn by reading. That's why there are "core courses" which it is required everybody complete. After those classes, a student can complete a study of a narrower part of college to satisfy degree requirements. An advanced degree, even a MBA, will narrow your expertise still further. The necessary ancillary reading will enable a student to understand where his studies fit into "Life, The Universe, and Everything." A PhD just focuses on a still narrower topic. A professor with a PhD will be sharing EVERYTHING she read to her acolytes. New discoveries and new analysis of old discoveries can make a wonderful dissertation obsolete blathering in a flash. Professors who teach their dissertation year after year almost NEVER achieve tenure. When your professor raves about the Bronte Sisters, you may become suspicious.

When you discourage higher education understand one thing, you hate America. America had the greatest surge in wealth, living standards, technology, etc. due to one thing. Higher education provided cheaply and, pretty much, universally to all Americans. We still also had welders and other trades people but we allowed them to unionize and thereby earn middle class wages, benefits, etc. but then the billionaires, represented by Ronald Reagan started destroying that dream.
Nulli, if you honestly believe in middle class wages for tradesmen, great, then support their unions too or else don't pretend you want them to earn middle class wages.

If these companies didn't hire these with the authorization to work you would call them racist.

That and Democrats left them, left them for illegal immigration, which UNIONS have traditionally been against. Today unions management tries to play nice with democrats to keep their paychecks, but the everyday union worker gets stiffed by Democrats and their management.

Nulli condemns the propaganda of the educational-industrial complex which has bamboozled the middle class into believing that anything less than a 4 year degree is a sign of failure of themselves and their kids. And Sheeple brings up the useless degree argument which is just an extension of the post hoc ergo proctor fallacy. Some people go nowhere after getting art history degrees or liberal arts degrees therefore those degrees are useless.

The CEO of Fidelity Investments majored in art history
Pulitzer Prize winning Journalist Jake Hooker majored in art history
Dagan McDowell, Anchor on Fox News was an art history major
The Vice Chairman of J.P. Morgan Chase was an art history major
Howard Schultz has a liberal arts degree
Andrea Jung has a liberal arts degree
Michael Eisner has a liberal arts degree

The point is ANY degree is better than no degree and people with ANY degree will make almost twice as much on average over their lifetimes as people with no degree. And no they are not indocrinated
