Republicans on Sunday struggled to answer questions about nativist tweets by President Donald Trump that have been widely condemned as the "textbook definition of racism."

Trump tweeted that the US government is " a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world".

Why does Trump hate America?

Republicans Pretend to Struggle with Trump's Latest Ugly Tweet While Getting Off on the Huge Tax Cuts Trump Gave in Their Wealthy Donors

Trump tweeted that the US government is " a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world".

Finally, a President who admitted the truth. He was stupid to say that but it's wrong to call him a liar. It's also hypocritical of him.. I am sure he made much profit because of the ineptness and corruption of the US govt.... he sure didn't complain as he was getting rich.

Wow. What a POS human being.

Trump will be the death spike through what, if anything, is left of the GOP heart.

I don't think Republicans are struggling at all. It's the Party of Trump. They've decided that racism may be the key to victory in 2020, like their Master.

I'm not seeing Republicans struggling. They gave up on any sense of decency when the Tea Party started to take over the GOP.

Pres Trump has completed the takeover, so now they just shrug their shoulders and keep quiet as Pres Trump drags the GOP lower and lower.

What "struggle"? They have decided to ignore and hope the public moves on to the next, even more outrageous Trump spewing.

You can't disagree with Liberals anymore or you are a racist. The conversation doesn't even have to be about race and they will call you a racist if you don't agree with them. It's quite sad. Obama is on record as telling illegals not to come to America...no racist talk. He says don't bring your children to America...no racist talk. Trump says the same thing...HE'S A RACIST!!!

Those of us in both parties who await the days where we actually start fighting real racism look like we are in for a long wait. We have to wait for the Reps to start caring about the challenges each race faces that are actually signs of racism and we have to wait for the Dems to stop labeling everything as racist just so they can get votes on moral grounds. Doesn't look like the leaders of either side are anywhere close to getting where they need to be, though. :-(

You can't support Trump any more and not be a racist.

Perhaps you've always been racists.

Trump's ‘Go Back' Tweets Leave No Room for Doubt (opinion)
www.bloomberg.com

...The president has ripped the band-aid off any reassuring notions the U.S. had about the progress of civil rights and the withering of racism.

As he has so many times since bursting onto the presidential stage in 2015, Donald Trump played the race card on Sunday. He launched nearly three dozen broadsides on Twitter throughout the day, but a trio of his tweets stood out because they demonstrated how casually he likes to uncork his venom and how unwilling the Republican Party is to contain him....

So Trump's tweets could have been translated as: "If you're a black woman born in the U.S. and a member of Congress, I think you belong in Africa."

Or, perhaps: "If you're a woman of Hispanic descent born in the U.S. and a member of Congress, I think you belong in Puerto Rico – and I still seem to think that's another country."

If there was ever any doubt that the president is a racist and a bigot and is willing to pander to racists and bigots to continue holding office, the tweets he aimed at "The Squad" on Sunday should put all of that to rest....

Trump just had a total meltdown on the South Lawn of the White House. He doubled-down on his racist attack on the four Democratic Congresswomen and then he extended his invitation, that they leave the country, to anyone who's not happy with the way the United States is being governed. Of course, based on recent polls, this would mean that he's basically told better than half the nation to leave.

The criticism of his original racist remarks hurt his racist fee-fees so he thinks he has no choice but to be even more racist, as a matter of pride.

'So Trump's tweets could have been translated as: "If you're a black woman born in the U.S. and a member of Congress, I think you belong in Africa." '

That's how his base interpreted them.

He literally told 4 non-white American female members of Congress, 3 of whom were born here, to go back to their countries of origin.

Please don't post anymore. Please leave society. You don't belong here. We don't want you here.

You can be mean spirited, but only to white men.
If your mean spirited towards a woman or a minority you're branded a misogynist or racist.
Because women and minorities are giant babies that want to be treated equally until they're treated equally, then they cry.

Mean spirited is one thing. I have no problem with mean spirited. But he was in fact being a racist (and not even just a bigot - full fledged racist) and frankly a misogynist too technically. You can be mean spirited to that group of women without going racist misogynist. He just lacks the intellectual capacity to do so, either that or he does it to work up his base.

Worse than Trump's racist statement (which we have come to expect from him) are the denials and justifications and general whining of all his supporters.

- but only to white men.

Chairpoodle somehow missed hundreds of years of discrimination against women and minorities; social, cultural, and legal, in this country alone.... OK, not surprising at all.

Poor mistreated white snowflakes.

Trump wasn't talking about illegals or children coming to America. He was telling four Americans to "go back from which they came" only because they're not white.

"Go back to where you came from" has been a racist favorite since forever. Not once has it ever been just some "disagreement".
