Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, July 17, 2019

If you're wondering why Donald Trump has been trying to keep his racist tweets in the headlines for days on end, here's the likely answer. A Reuters/Ipsos public opinion poll shows support for Trump increased among Republican voters after he urged four minority Democratic congresswomen to go back to their countries of origin, even though three of them were born in the U.S.

He's even more nonchalant this time around than 2016 when I was wondering how in God's name would he win while doing so little.

Citing what she called President Donald Trump's racist ideology, Elsa Alcala, a retired Republican judge on the state's highest criminal court, announced on Facebook that she can no longer support the GOP and has left the party.

"It has taken me years to say this publicly but here I go. President Trump is the worst president in the history of this country," Alcala wrote Monday. "Even accepting that Trump has had some successes -- and I believe these are few -- at his core, his ideology is racism. To me, nothing positive about him could absolve him of his rotten core."

Always remember Trump needs an enemy. In 2016, it was Hillary Clinton and the press. Until the Democrats select a presidential candidate, The Squad has replaced Clinton at the top of Trump's hate list. Hillary, an old white woman, was labeled as part of the crooked Establishment. These 4 young women of color are being labelled as dangerous outsiders and dumb "wack jobs". His supporters have gone from "Lock her up" to "Send her home".

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

"In America, if you hate our Country, you are free to leave. The simple fact of the matter is, the four Congresswomen think that America is wicked in its origins, they think that America is even more wicked now, that we are all racist and evil. They're entitled to their.....

..opinion, they're Americans. Now I'm entitled to my opinion, & I just think they're left wing cranks. They're the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle, & we should ignore them. The "squad" has moved the Democrat Party substantially LEFT, and.....

....they are destroying the Democrat Party. I'm appalled that so many of our Presidential candidates are falling all over themselves to try to agree with the four horsewomen of the apocalypse. I'm entitled to say that they're Wack Jobs." Louisiana Senator John Kennedy

I'm thinking Warren and Sanders will be labeled like The Squad if one of them is the Democratic nominee: dumb wack jobs about to bring about the demise of the USA and life as we know it in America and beyond. (We saw the foreshadowing of this with Crazy Bernie.) I think a presidential candidate like Biden or Harris will get more of the Crooked Establishment Hillary treatment, although Trump seems unable to resist calling a woman of color stupid, so Harris is likely to be labeled dumb as well. And, oh, how the Trumpers will love it all.

He is now saying, of a baby, "What a baby! What a baby! That is a beautiful baby! That's like from an advertisement! Perfect!"

Then talked about how people look beautiful in MAGA hats and how he will still use the slogan Keep America Great

Also from tonight's rally in NC:

Trump says a vote for any Democrat is a vote for, "frankly, the destruction of our country." He says the party has an "ideological sickness."

I like how the right-wing definition of "this isn't racist" revolves around just having their own immutable definitions of words, so they can short circuit the discussion from ever happening.

This reminds me of Lindsey Graham's recent remarks on Trump's tweets:

"No, I don't think it's racist to say. ... I don't think a Somali refugee embracing Trump would not have been asked to go back. If you're a racist you want everybody from Somalia to go back."

IOW, you are ONLY an acceptable Somalian immigrant if you unquestionably adopt Trump's political views and support Trump himself. As long as Trump can say, "Hey, look at my native-born Somalian supporter!" he won't tell you to go back to where you came from, and so, viola! that means he's not a racist.

I wonder if we should believe Michael Cohen on Trump's attitude toward blacks?:

Michael Cohen: Trump said ‘black people are too stupid to vote for me'

President Donald Trump once said, "Black people are too stupid to vote for me," and suggested that all countries run by blacks are "s---holes," Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen says in a new interview.

Also in the Vanity Fair sitdown, Cohen recalled Trump saying, "There's no way I can let this black f-g win," when referring to a black contestant on the reality show "The Apprentice."

"Only the blacks could live like this," Trump once allegedly told Cohen when they were driving through a rough neighborhood in Chicago.

Exactly. Romney needed votes from those 47%ers.

He insulted them.

when you say anybody who votes for trump is a racist, then you're calling a potential trump voter a potential racist.

who likes being called a racist? I imagine not even self-admitted racists like it....so..nobody likes it.

If I'm an undecided, do I think Trump is a racist? almost certainly not....if I thought that...I wouldn't be undecided.

Undecideds might like Trump but they aren't sure how much. They also might like some of the dem field but aren't sure how much.

But they don't think they are racists and won't like being called one by -------- who can help themselves with the accusations.

That's where I disagree with you. I think someone could think Trump is a racist but ultimately decide to set that aside because he offers something else they value more than they dislike his racism (e.g. conservative judges) or because they decide the Democratic candidate might do something they fear more than they dislike his racism (e.g. take away their guns or healthcare).

Do you think that represents a substantial number of undecideds?

Personally, if someone is considering voting for Trump....there is a small likelihood they truly think he's a racist.

And regardless....how do you think that someone you're describing likes being called a racist for voting for him?

I guarantee you that zero of them think voting for Trump makes them a racist.

There is this notion that you can shame these folks into voting against Trump.

That will not work.

No, it won't. I disagree with you on that one point. I posted this earlier today in another thread (it's not about undecides but Trump supporters in general):

Not all Trump supporters are racist, so I agree with Eberly that lumping them all together like that is a big mistake. The fact is that some people who aren't racist, and who may even think Trump is one, are going to vote for him anyway, because they believe he will do something positive for them (which they value more than whether or not he is a racist) or because they fear the Democrats will do something negative to them (again, which they value more than whether someone is a racist), and so they believe Trump is the lesser of two evils. Some will also vote for Trump out of tribal identity, not based on skin color, but on politics and maybe on religion, i.e., just because he is a Republican and a Christian and so are they.

Never was any debate about the Orange ape being a racist. Only stupid brainwashed people would deny this. We call them republicans.

No thats not what he's saying AT ALL.

He's saying that for a statement to be racist, it must denigrate a race, all or most members of a race.

Asking an individual to leave a bar because they are being unruly isn't racist.
Asking an individual to leave a bar because of their identity is racist.

Logically speaking, Trump may or may not be a racist, these tweets don't prove that he is.

"She's playing the "Uncle Tom" card. Just be honest and acknowledge it."

So it's bigoted to call people RINO's then?

Birthers are racists. Trump is a racist.

Voting for Trump doesnt make you racist or a traitor or a pedophile, or a fraudster, but if you are, you will have plenty of company.

A sad statement. Trump has done and said so many other socially unacceptable things, he should not get the vote of any decent person with a minimum expectation of values society should respect and adhere to.

Great! Now that we know it's not a racist thing to say, whenever Boaz bitches about Liberals or Democrats we can reply, "If you don't like the way things are run in America, you can go back to Africa".

And also, isn't it just a bit ironic that the same party that says "America, love it or leave it" is the same party that tell immigrants "You should stay in your own country and fix it"?

"Why don't they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done."

"America stinks. At least that's what Donald J. Trump seemed to be saying before becoming president.

He did not believe in "American exceptionalism," he said, because America was not exceptional. Instead, it was a "laughingstock" that was no better than Vladimir V. Putin's Russia. By promising to make America great again, he made it clear that he believed it was not great anymore.

That was then. Now the president who trash-talked America more than any other in modern times says anyone who trash-talks America should leave. The president, who took office with an inaugural address decrying "American carnage," now says that it is unpatriotic to speak ill of the country. And on Tuesday, he went further, equating attacks on him by his political opponents with attacks on "the Country, the Flag."

The love-it-or-leave-it argument is hardly new, but in recent years, it has rarely played out at the volume and level it has since Mr. Trump on Sunday told a group of liberal, first-year Democratic congresswomen of color to "go back" to their home countries, even though three of the four were born in the United States."

In-breeding and FAS or both makes those afflicted naturally fear those who don't look like their reflection in the mirror.

It's a symptom from which so MANY Trumpists suffer.
