Democrats on the House committees set to hear testimony next week from former special counsel Robert Mueller believe the hearings will help Americans understand "the gravity of the president's misconduct," staff members told reporters.

I'm thinking that Mr Mueller will stick as close to his written report as he possibly can, and that there will be no surprise revelations made during the sessions.

From what I've seen so far, Mr Mueller's attitude towards the post-report fanfare and inquiries is along the lines of ~read the report, it's all in there...~

Given Mueller's prior statements and propensity for short, terse answers, it will be interesting to see how this plays out. I really don't think that they are going to get the massive viewership that the need to change public opinion, but we shall see.

The Democrats and the MSM seem to be forgetting that the Republicans on these Committees also get to ask questions, so this will be very entertaining for us politics junkies.

I do believe, however, that if this is a non-event that keeps the Dems from launching an impeachment inquiry that Nadler, Schiff and Pelosi should step down from their leadership positions.

I completely agree, there will be a lot of "it's in our Report" answers from Mr. Mueller and I think that is why they are going to try to focus not on his conclusions but on the evidence in the Report.

Probably not a bad move, but once they ask him to draw a conclusion from a piece of evidence I think he is going to fall back on that stock answer.

@#2 ... the Republicans on these Committees also get to ask questions ...

I remember Rep Jim Jordan's performance during one of the hearings (Michael Cohen? ... so many hearings, so few brain cells...). It was quite obvious his goal was to disrupt and not to learn anything. He appeared to have his mind made up before the hearing even started.

What I'm also wondering...

A lot of the report was redacted because of ongoing investigations. As those investigations wrap up, are the appropriate sections of the report unredacted?

If so, where does one obtain those sections?

Like the Cohen/Campaign Finance investigation release the other day, those sections will be released by Court order when the Court is notified by the SDNY that the investigation is complete.

Everyone on those Committees will have their minds made up before the hearings start, this is just political theater.

Good.

That's why I printed the report and put it in a loose-leaf binder -- easy to update.

Democrats will use the platform to make grand sweeping statements,

and frame their questions so that the accusations are leveled, regardless of Mueller's answer.

CNN/MSNBC will use the soundbites to conduct a talking head trial resulting in a unanimous media verdict.

DR Keyboard Prosecutors will be taking notes, printing out transcripts, playing video on loop, recording audio and listening when driving, spamming the retort with dozens of threads from all the DNC-approved sources. Because this is where the battle for America will be decided: On the Mighty Retort!

At least CNN learned that touching the DNC stove was a bad idea and hasn't started its banner ads touting Mueller's testimony... yet.

#20 | Posted by aborted_monson, Eventually the Democrats will have to announce some policies beyond not being Trump. As of now they are all attempting to out left each other. Running against Trump isn't enough. The hoard of candidates in the running will eventually have to be for something, anything besides the insanity of AOCs green new deal or more government expansion. Get ready for Trump's reelection. The left has died of rigor mortise of ideals.

#23 | Posted by aborted_monson If they had anything, they would have made a charge sheet and given it to congress to start impeachment. Note, the latest vote in the house on that subject. 240 to 187 in the chamber controlled by the Democrats. Hell, Mueller admitted he knew there was no collusion six months in, but dragged the investigation out for two years. Every lawyer on the team was a Democrat, heard any speak up? I actually read some of the report, maybe 40 out of 400 pages. It is as dull as a legal brief, which it is. "STFU son!" is the depth of your argument?
