Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, July 22, 2019

Last month, in Minneapolis, I found Al Franken, Minnesota's disgraced former senator, wandering around in jeans and stocking feet. It was a sunny day, but the shades were mostly drawn. Takeout containers of hummus and carrot sticks were set out on the kitchen table. The place felt like the kind of man cave where someone hides out from the world, which is more or less what Franken has been doing since he resigned, in December, 2017, amid accusations of sexual impropriety. When I asked him if he truly regretted his decision to resign, he said, "Oh, yeah. Absolutely." He wishes that he had appeared before a Senate Ethics Committee hearing, as he had requested, allowing him to marshal facts that countered the narrative aired in the press. It is extremely rare for a senator to resign under pressure. No senator has been expelled since the Civil War, and in modern times only three have resigned under the threat of expulsion.

Although me and Franken probably have nothing in common or agreement, I do think he was rail roaded.

That's your problem Boaz.

Even though we don't see eye to eye on much politically. I'd be willing to bet we agree on a lot else.

I think that's what most Americans are forgetting, despite our differences, we have a lot in common.

If you ever spent an afternoon with Al Franken, you'd probably end up leaving as friends.

Franken is a creep. Does this disqualify him from government service where creepiness is the norm? I think that should be left to the voters. Do I trust Franken not to touch women inappropriately? About as much as I would trust Epstein to lead a girl scout troop.

#5 It takes a serious amount of cognitive dissonance to equate Al Franken to a serial------------ and trafficker.
