Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Speaking on Tuesday at a student activist conference hosted by the conservative advocacy organization Turning Point USA, President Donald Trump walked onstage in front of a presidential seal that, upon closer examination, appears to have been altered to include symbols representing Russia and golf.

Oops. The infamous Trump chaos comes to the fore. Where were the advance people who normally vet these types of things?

Now that's funny. If you look extra close, you'll see a wad of cash in the eagle's other claw.

"If you look extra close, you'll see a wad of cash in the eagle's other claw"

That's clever. But it would have been more clever to have that other claw clutching a cat...

- The double-headed eagle is from Russia's coat of arms.

- There's a set of golf clubs in one of the eagle's claws.

- There's money grasped in the other eagle's claw.

- A set of Russian hammer/sickle emblems replaces the stars on the flag chevron between the eagle's wings.

- Instead of "E pluribus unum" on the banner above the eagle's head, it reads:

"45 es un títere," Spanish for "45 is a puppet."

The eagle on the seal was two-headed, closely resembling the bird on the Russian coat of arms. Its talons clutch golf clubs, not arrows, seemingly a jab at Trump's prodigious golfing habits.

The Post found what seems to be the same phony seal online, featuring the text "45 is a puppet" in Spanish (where E Pluribus Unum should be).

Epic, epic trolling!

Trump probably objected to the original due to the Latin on it.

"I don't like things from Latin countries!"

Meet the man who created the parody presidential seal, a former Republican fed up with Trump

All hail Charles Leazott, a graphic designer who had voted for Dubya twice, but who was so turned off by Trump he created the seal as a catharsis, according to the piece in Washington Post.

Per the article he'd forgotten about it until it showed up the other day onscreen at Trump's propaganda event for fledgling "conservative youth."

"Holy crap at the amount of vile, hateful Facebook messages," he said. "It's apparently a personal affront to some people."

But, Leazott said, it's him who gets the last laugh. A photo of Trump in front of his seal is now his computer background, and the person who used it at the event is "either wildly incompetent or the best troll ever -- either way, I love them."

"a former Republican fed up with Trump"

I think it's funny how many current Republicans are fed up with Trump.
Like Trump is just some phase the GOP is going through, like a teenager.
Like there's a path back to whatever they think being a Republican stands for.

#19 | Posted by earthmuse, I don't know, the last time the United States was in serious peril was when the Democrat party decided to kill people to preserve slavery. As far as curtailing civil rights, things like speech codes, disruption of meetings, shouting down speakers, attacking people on the street for wearing the wrong head gear, seems to me at least a little anti-democratic.
The only rights you have are the ones you allow others to have. If you can protest Trump without the expectation of getting shot or your head split open with a bike lock, you have to give Trump supporter the same right. I'll take it more extreme, if the CPUSA can rally and march, so can the Klan. Otherwise it is not a right to protest, it is a privilege granted by the state.
I believe the concept of privilege to Americans is antithetical to us as inherited nobility.

"when the Democrat party decided to kill people to preserve slavery."

And what did those particular "Democrats" do when LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act?

#21 | Posted by Danforth at 2019-07-26 01:55 PM | Reply

#21 | Posted by Danforth Well, to tell you the truth those guys were dead a century later, but the guys that replaced them were sweating their reelection and if LBJ wasn't going to expose that which be was blackmailing them with anyway. As San Rayburn said "I can get you reelected unless they find you in bed with a dead woman or a live boy". Lindon learned his politics from Sam. Sam was as scrupulous as a feral cat.

After 1964, those "Democrat" states turned mostly Republican. Historically, 11 states joined the Confederacy: South Carolina, MississippI, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virgina, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina. 10 of those 11 went for Trump; (Ex VA); 9 of 11 for Romney (ex VA, FL); 8 of 11 for McCain (ex VA, FL, NC).

Compare that with 1960: 8 of the 11 voted for Kennedy, including Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas, North & South Carolina, and Mississippi. The only Nixon voters were FL, VA, and TN.

#25 | Posted by Danforth The reason? It wasn't the racism of the voters, the hard core racist remained with the Democrat party. Note of the pro-segregation "Dixiecrats" only two went over to the Republican party, Strum Thurman being one. The shift in voting patterns started because of the shift in demographics. In the 50s and 60s the south went from rural to urban, from ag to industrial. The voting base had different priorities. Additionally Democrats were terrible at governing. They ran states like Democrats run cities now. Any serious examples of a prosperous safe city run by Democrats? I'll give you ten that are basket cases.

I'm not talking about the Senators, I'm talking about the populace. It was the racism.

As many as prosperous safe cities run by Republicans.

#27 | Posted by Danforth The one significant indication of decay and corruption in any city is when it is run by the Democrat Party for more than 20 years. Any cheer leading for San Francisco, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Newark, Chicago, St. Louis, New Orleans, any controlled by the Jackass party for decades? There is now a real fear of the appearance of plague, here in an advanced country, in the 21st century, in Los Angeles. That is an accomplishment that boggles my mind. Maybe this shows that Democrats can not govern. Government means occasionally telling people to do things they don't want to do. Like stop living on the street with rats and human waste. Like shooting up in Bart Stations. Like street panhandling with veiled threats of violence,(that called extortion anywhere else). Tolerance is a noble goal, until the other's behavior become a threat to the health and safety of others and themselves. Then it is neglect or indifference.

I'd place bets on where plague strikes first, Clint or San Francisco, but that's much to close to Border Patrol behavior.

I would like to note however that crowding people together so that they can't get out of each other's faces is a great way to spread anything.

#29 | Posted by Zed Citation? Actually the arrested in detention camps have toilets, showers, three meals a day and very limited access to drugs. If there are fights or violence in detention they keep several officers as a QRF,(quick reaction force). I doubt they have the threat of the plague is in those facilities unless the occupants brought fleas in with them. That is why they issue cloths to the arrested and have a supervised shower. The hose down, which is part of booking in any confinement facility.

#43 | Posted by Zed The reason they don't allow prisoners in jail to have detergent is for the safety of the staff and the arrested. Detergent is caustic, Shave down a bar of zest or that blue prison soap, and put into someone's eyes. Blindness can occur in three minutes if not flushed out.
