Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

As death tolls climb, doctors across specialties are growing increasingly frustrated by that framing, and arguing for a stronger focus on gun control over mental health. "It's really just scapegoating people with mental health issues," says Dr. Seth Trueger, an assistant professor of emergency medicine at Northwestern University. And while rates of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and suicidal behavior are on the rise in the U.S., Trueger says other nations have similar problems and experience far fewer mass shootings.

I agree with all the above. But until we ban assault rifles, 50+ ammo clips, and semi-auto weapons nationwide, the mass shootings are going to continue.

Is avoidance a mental illness?

CNN says it reached out to 50 GOP lawmakers this morning; 49 declined to appear on air to discuss the El Paso and Dayton shootings. twitter.com

Snoofy, patiently waiting on the NRA owned GOP to make decisions on gun laws.

Just like his do-nothing party of cowards. "Our 10 day waiting period has teeth!" - Democrats

Why is it when the perpetrator of a mass shooting in the US is NOT white, all that politicians and the news media want to talk about is who was he working with, where did they get their resources, who radicalized them, did they get help from people who would like see America harmed, etc. However, when it's a single white male, the only topic that is talked about is his mental health. It's as if mental illness can ONLY be considered as the likely factor if the shooter is white, but if he's non-white, or heaven forbid, a Muslim or a foreigner, well it's all part of some big terrorist plot funded by the enemies of America praying on young susceptible individuals who were radicalized by some Mullah somewhere. Why do these people refuse to believe that ostensibly normal white American males couldn't have been radicalized by white nationalists or other home-grown, hate groups? It's just strange...

A ten-day waiting period would have stopped the mass shooting in the city I work for. 18-year-old male walked into gun store and walked out with a new AR-15, several 30-round mags and four boxes of .223 ammo in a little over an hour. His intent all along was to shoot up a party attended by his ex-girlfriend. Less than a week after he bought the rifle, he deployed it and killed his ex and two of her friends.

He was not crazy, no mental health issues, honor student and not bullied. There were no red flags as far as law enforcement knew. He was immature and couldn't deal with rejection.

The difference was the AR-15. The most lethal weapon anybody can legally buy, and the favorite weapon of mass shooters looking to run up the score. It should be pulled from the market along with every other semi-automatic rifle. The only rifles that should be available for civilian use are bolt and lever action.

The suspect, identified as Patrick Crusius, 21, told investigators following his arrest that he allegedly set out to kill as many Mexicans as he could, according to authorities.

On Monday, law enforcement officials told ABC News that Crusius cased the Walmart, going inside on Saturday without any weapons, apparently to size up the clientele inside the store, which is about 5 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

Ya, let's get rid of Fox News. The El Paso mass murderer spouted exactly the same white nationalist screeds they do.

How does it feel to stand with mass murderers who killed people purely based on their ethnicity?

Shame on you, you doddering old idiot.

El Paso shooter:
1. "The inconvenient truth is that our leaders, both Democrat AND Republican, have been failing us for decades. They are either complacent or involved in one of the biggest betrayals of the American public in our history. The takeover of the United States government by unchecked corporations."
2. "Although the Republican Party is also terrible. Many factions within the Republican Party are pro-corporation."
3. "In the near future, America will have to initiate a basic universal income to prevent widespread poverty and civil unrest as people lose their jobs."
4. "The decimation of the environment is creating a massive burden for future generations."
5. "Corporations are heaing [sic] the destruction of our environment by shamelessly over harvesting resources"
6. "Fresh water is being polluted from farming and oil drilling operations."
7. "Consumer culture is creating thousands of tons of unnecessary plastic waste and electronic waste, and recycling to help slow this down is almost non-existent."

Do you stand with the El Paso shooter on those ideas?
How about you be honest and point out which of those El Paso shooter ideas you disagree with. Make sure you let MSNBC know that you don't appreciate their pushing those same ideas that pushed the El Paso shooter to put them in his manifesto and act upon them.

You are such a Trumpite.

The shooter offered a slew of idea in the context of being a RACIST MURDERER. Just like Trump offers idea in the context of being a RACIST ABBETOR OF MUDERERS.

The more immoral Trumpism becomes, the more rabid you become arguing that no one is moral.

I realize that it is hard for you to understand, but I was displaying why AmericanUnity's failed attempt to paint Fox news as needing to be removed because it passed on the same type of writing that the El Paso shooter did was a stupid idea. By providing evidence that every person and every media source passes along the same stuff as the shooter. That's why I specifically quoted him and was pointed it out. Reading comprehension could go a LONG ways to curing your ignorance.
Sit down and think really hard and maybe you'll figure it out.

Probably not, but I'm hoping for you.

#1 | Posted by SheepleSchism, Really? I remember the first firearm I bought, a M1 carbine with two 20 round magazines. Of course it was 1975, and if you told me that someone would use such a weapon to shoot defenseless strangers, I would have said you were insane. The problem isn't guns, it is people. Maybe we don't value human life anymore. Maybe we encourage alienated individuals to withdraw into a sick twilight zone. Maybe we ignore people with problems. Maybe we don't care.

You cant hit a damn thing with an M1. I tried to drop a rabbit with one. Maybe I didn't have the sights zeroed in right, but I could see the dirt kicking up behind it as I unloaded on it. Damn thing ran like hell though. Next time I'll bring a war-dog instead. And it would enjoy it a lot more whoever made the M1. That's a stupid gun.

#28 | Posted by HeliumRat at 2019-08-07 03:52 PM | Reply

#28 | Posted by HeliumRat, An M1 is a carbine, and yes you have to zero those peep sights if you want to hit anything more than 20 yards away. It was favored by staff pukes and airborne troops for different reasons. Smaller, lighter and shorter, it was easier to carry. Thus it was a favorite with office workers and truck drivers. Air born troops liked it because they could carry a lot more ammo with the same weight. Additionally it used the same ammo as the light machine gun of the time. Next time you go hunting rabbits use a .22, it's more than enough firepower. Using a 30.06 in a M1 rifle is like using a cannon on a rat.

#29 | Posted by docnjo at 2019-08-08 02:56 PM | Reply

You can hunt rabbits with a blow gun. No need for fancy 14th century technology.
