Why do republicans always have to let people die and suffer for decades before doing the right thing?
Same with climate change. They'll do the right thing eventually, after doing untold damage first.

Instead of: Argue against liberals, cause suffering, finally listen to liberals,
Howbout just: listen to liberals.

What have conservatives EVER been right about in american history that liberals were proven wrong about? I'm not talking republican vs dem. I'm talking conservative vs liberal.

This sounds like a snarky question but I'm being serious - I literally can't think of a single thing. Can you?

Except for the fact any debate won't happen for weeks, by which time McConnell's counting on this issue diminishing in the public sphere.

McConnell can play games, but there's an election next year, so he'd better watch his step.

People will be paying closer attention this time.

I read an in depth poll the other day that concluded things are looking worse for Republicans now than they were at this point in the lead up to the 2018 election.

This may have something to do with Sen McConnell's change of heart on this...

Republicans Fear ‘Extinction in the Suburbs' Over Gun Control
news.yahoo.com

...After two gruesome mass shootings in a 24-hour span, some Republicans are raising alarms that their opposition to new firearm limits is making the party toxic to the suburban women and college graduates who will shape the 2020 election.

"Republicans are headed for extinction in the suburbs if they don't distance themselves from the NRA. The GOP needs to put forth solutions to help eradicate the gun violence epidemic," said Dan Eberhart, a Republican donor and oil-and-gas executive who supports President Donald Trump....

Republicans Fear ‘Extinction in the Suburbs' Over Gun Control

#17 | Posted by LampLighter

It's much more than that. Trump has turned off suburban women by a huge majority, most voters with more than a high school education, and minorities.

His border BS - which his 2016 campaign staff told him to emphasize (he couldn't personally care less since he hires illegals) - has turned Hispanics away from the GOP for the foreseeable future and mobilized them to show up next year like they did last year.

2020 is going to be the biggest shellacking the GOP has experienced since 2008. More than that, though, he has turned the GOP into a party voters under 50 can't stand by huge margins.

Trump should spend some of his hours-a-day 'executive time' carving a tombstone for the GOP.

Its funny, I made a comment a few days ago about Republicans never compromising anything and gun control is a perfect example.

My position, is admittedly very leftwing. I would ban all guns, except hunting rifles-single shot that are permitted and limited per household.

Period

Disarm ALL citizens and the police.

A compromise on this would be smart legislation like expanded background checks, eliminating high capacity magazines, not allowing many groups of individuals to have firearms-mentally unstable, domestic abusers, DUI and the red flag laws.

I would pass laws to remove firearms from households where individuals have expressed suicidal thoughts.

Oh and a registry of every firearm distributed to courts, law enforcement and health providers.

And require insurance and regular training.

But again, Republicans refuse to compromise, refuse even to debate it.

Common sense eludes the minds of the gun nut crowd. They'd actually be safer from perceived threats if there were less guns. Instead, they buy more and remain dead set against common sense measures that would actually make them - and everyone else - safer.
