Considering the dangers of going to Walmart, either find another store or be prepared to defend yourself. The guns in Walmart are locked up, so don't bother trying.

The intersection of open carry laws and constant mass shootings is going to create an atmosphere where people will see a person open carry and create mass hysteria in the process.

If you need to carry an assault weapon shopping I suggest you go shopping for some ---------.

These people have always been attention whores, now doing so not even a week after two mass shootings is just taking being a douchebag to a new level. There is a difference between doing what is legal and doing what is right. It's just a matter of time before one of these open carry freaks get shot by someone thinking they are a mass shooter.

This freakoid was one impulse away from killing a lot of people. He was even in a position to record his own actions like Christchurch.

Shoot him first, figure out if he was a "good guy" later.

This was the source of an interesting conversation with two of my Republican Trump supporting coworkers today. I basically said "Open carry, he wasn't violating any laws, and he was illegally detained. He should sue for false arrest!"

They thought I had lost my mind. They disagreed vehemently with me.

I said "These are the laws you wanted, this is what you get. What did you expect?"

How TF are you supposed to know the difference between a lunatic and a homicidal maniac in situations like these? And how TF are you supposed to determine which category a person falls under at the scene? Other mass murderers had no criminal records to speak of beforehand and their intentions only became well known after a background check, which police arriving on the scene are not qualified to do. So let's say this guy was there to kill people, and the cops who detained him, being forced to take his word for it that he's a Second Amendment supporter exercising his rights, have no other choice but to let him go on his way since there's nothing on his record. Then as soon as he walks off he begins firing at people. Whose fault would that be?

... Somebody pulls a fire alarm, the announcement system supposedly told people to leave the store ...

According to reports this morning, the person who pulled the fire alarm and told everyone to leave the store was the store manager.

just carry it a bit further. someone else in the store sees him and they're carrying, they take a shot at him and miss.
does he turn around and return fire inside the store
this is 75 miles south of me

Since shopping in person at stores is dying, this new trend ought to kill it. No pun intended.

Seems like a lot of people are looking at this as a 2nd amendment issue. I look it as a matter of the 1st. His behavior is a form of speech and was intended to disturb the public peace and by doing so he put himself and others around him in clear and present danger.

I would say, don't go to the store, order take out - but I'm afraid that may misconstrued in multiple ways.
First off, take out seems too much of a term to use anymore.

Plus, ordering take out is risky.

This was my impression, too.

Actually, I've said that it's my opinion that Hillary would have been as bad, maybe worse, but for completely different reasons.

You routinely present your opinions as unassailable fact.

You're spinning like a top trying to pretend otherwise.

Wow, what a mess we have going on

A 20-year-old man who sent shoppers fleeing after he entered a Walmart store in Missouri while wearing body armor and carrying a rifle and handgun on Thursday, said he wanted to see whether the store would respect his Second Amendment rights, according to a probable cause statement released Friday.

#33 | Posted by _Gunslinger_ at 2019-08-10 01:09 PM | Reply

It is not illegal here in Texas to carry a weapon openly. But if you do, expect to be arrested if you leave the street and go into a business. Then you get charged with disturbing the peace. Other charges apply if that business serves alcohol. Honestly I remember carrying in my service rifle, an M14 after a little field problem over night when we stopped for breakfast. Ten young men with military rifles and no one batted an eye. It was 1976 and it was Texas.

Ok...there's a guy in the parking lot that takes your advice. he opens fire on the guy and one of his bullets strikes and kills your child. I assume that you'd be upset but you wouldn't want any charges brought against the shooter, is that correct?

remember the young black guy a couple of years ago standing in the toy aisle of a walmart, holding a toy rifle and talking on the phone..a white woman called the cops who ran in and shot the guy.

ronald reagan changed the gun laws in california when the panthers took advantage of their 2nd amend rights and went to sacremento openly carrying guns...there is in fact "white privilege"
