Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Universal Pictures has canceled the release of the controversial movie "The Hunt", in the wake of significant backlash over the film that depicts privileged vacationers hunting "deplorables" for sport. NBC's Universal Pictures, which shares parent company Comcast with NBC News and MSNBC, told Fox News on Wednesday that the movie's marketing campaign would be "temporarily paused" on the heels tragic mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. At the time, it had no plans to shelf the movie itself. But in a statement released to Variety, Universal said: "While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film. "We stand by our filmmakers and will continue to distribute films in partnership with bold and visionary creators, like those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that now is not the right time to release this film."

That's too bad. I wanted the public to see just how much hate Hollywood has for the not-woke masses.

"the Useful Idiots of the DR Left"

1. At least they're useful.
2. This is the first I've heard of the movie.

That's a lot of rent-free space in your head.

Surviving The Game

1994

When Mason (Ice-T), homeless and living on the streets of Seattle, hears about a job as a hunting guide for a group of wealthy clients, he gladly signs on and is taken to a cabin in the middle of a Pacific Northwest forest. There he meets psychiatrist Doc Hawkins (Gary Busey), oil baron John Griffin (John C. McGinley) and Wall Street investor Derek Wolfe (F. Murray Abraham). The next morning, however, Mason is awakened to learn that he's the prey the men will be hunting.

Been there, done that. It's simply a rehashed story.

Looks like it's gotten the usual suspects frothing at the mouth.

Netflix would get a lot of viewers for the first major SJW porn flic in blue bubble land. The numbers would off the charts in some blue cities like SF, Seattle, etc.

IIRC, Ice-T came out on top in that movie, even though he was the hunted. From what I've seen, new movie followed the same plot line, with the hunted eventually triumphing over the elites hunting them.

The ending would certainly have pissed off lots of libs!

Probably why it was cancelled. The audience might have been rooting for the "deplorables" at the end and Hollywood certainly can't let that happen.

Ice-T's 'Body Count' album is awesome.

Body Count belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Never heard of it. Thanks for the free advertising for them tho. They must be happy about it. Maybe Trump will make it a success by tweeting about it.

I'm sure they are very happy they just spent millions of dollars on a marketing campaign, then had to scrap it all, cancel the release, and lock the film in a vault.

Speaking only for myself, I never watch movies or TV shows with that type of violence. Never have since I was a child, never will.
