There's another way to walk away from this and it's called a Go-Around. Flying an unstable approach, landing beyond the transition area, landing at too high of a speed, forcing the aircraft onto the runway all because someone has get-there-itus is no way to fly people.

I'd be surprised if the pilot would be welcomed back when the new plane shows up.

Just read an article that said investigators have video showing the plane bounced twice, collapsing the landing gear on the second bounce, then plowed through a fence.

Yep, someone was in too much of a hurry to get it on the ground.

The airplane basically bounced at least twice before coming down hard on the right main landing gear," he said. "You can actually see the right main landing gear collapsing on the video. The airplane continued down the runway, off to the end, through a fence and came to a stop behind me here on Highway 91."
