President Donald Trump drew so much attention this past week on matters ranging from wanting to buy Greenland to a supporter's weight problems, that it was easy to miss some of his more stinging remarks on trade.

So when Europe and China get to together on trade deals, where will that leave America?

Trump doesn't think we have enough enemies yet. We have to create more. Realize one thing, China has like 5 times our population and the EU has twice our population. One has to consider the idea that Trump is trying to bring down the United States. On orders from Putin. OK, don't consider that because it seems like a conspiracy theory, but then, you tell me why he would try to undermine the economies of 2 billion people. Without a club, without any power, he's totally clueless. They are laughing at him in Berlin, and Paris, and London, and Beijing, and Tokyo, and Hanoi. Even in Mexico City. He is a worldwide laughing stock. But let's go one step farther. What does that make his supporters? They are, without a doubt, the dumbest group of people in American history.

Making enemies is by far the easiest was for Trump to get personal attention. In a primitive organization of personality, any attention is good. He may turn into a Walmart killer yet.

I'm told if you describe them negatively they won't vote for you. Then again, they weren't voting for you anyway.

@#7 ... Why should we not have FAIR trade with AL countries? ...

That's a fair goal.

However, at the rate we are currently going, isolationism looks more likely as the rest of the world is starting to trade around us.

Do we have as much to offer, ssnip?

We're largely a service based economy so maybe we need to increase what we can sell, don't you think?

To anyone who has been following the trade wars closely this is not a surprise, but the timing is a little early.

That being said, the EU is less suited for a protracted trade war than China is, but I agree having two going on at the same time seems to be overreaching.

My thought is that Pres Trump realized that China is going to be more difficult than he thought. A lot more difficult.

"Trade wars are good, and easy to win." - Pres Trump, 2018 ( www.cnbc.com )

So now, he is starting up a trade war with the EU to (1) deflect from the China mess, and (2) have a trade war he might have a chance of winning.

Probably a little of both.

US manufacturing has sucked for decades, the quality wasn't there, just the marketing. Hollywood is the world entertainment leader, which is an example of a innovative and creative liberal industry.

Trump wants to sacrifice the US winners to protect the US losers. Sounds socialist doesn't it.

US consumers have told US manufacturers that they like German, Japanese and Chinese goods better, the market has spoken. It is time they pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and learned from their betters.

I can't help but ask, how will we know that we've won? What will it look like? Will there be a parade with marching bands and fireworks?

Anyway, I just couldn't help but ask...

The only problem is that Trump doesn't care because it's not his $$$$ he's gambling with....
it's great to gamble with somebody else's money......
Trump is taking all these risks 'cause he's trying to show the world how smart he is...
After losing and going bankrupt in most of his investments.....selling bottled, water, Trump University fake degrees,
Trump's Delicious Steaks...etc
After all this is done, he'll go down in history as the biggest phony in the world......even his family will run away from reporters....
from the bisggest embarresement the world has ever seen
The TRUMP name will be synonymous with MADOFF....it will be so radioacative....even his kids will change their last name,

I bought one, from an old 'babushka', up on the Lenin Hills overlooking Moscow, back in 1994. I think I paid about $25. I know the person I was with, a coworker from our Moscow office, told me that I got taken by the old lady. He said I should have offered her less as she would have taken it. A few months after I got home, just before Christmas, I was shopping at Costco, and saw one that looked very similar to the one I bought. For all I know, it could have been made by the same artist (mine is signed and dated). The one at Costco was selling for $160. No, I think I got a good deal ;-)
