A decade of "delayed and unpredictable funding" for the U.S. military's budget has seen America lose its primacy in the Western Pacific, giving the edge to an increasingly sophisticated China, a Sydney-based think tank warned.

No it doesnt Tremain. China can barely get it's missiles out of the south China Sea, much less anywhere else in the pacific.

Any actual war between the U.S. and China, where the U.S. is unrestrained by liberals and fought decisively by the U.S. wouldnt last two months.

What is that supposed to mean?

They got ICBMs which can land on any point on earth.

Any actual war between the U.S. and China, where the U.S. is unrestrained by liberals and fought decisively by the U.S. wouldnt last two months.

In case that might be true, there will not be an actual war.

They will just crowd out your options one by one and retreat from a specific theater follows naturally.

As they said about Vietnam... "The Americans could play a great game of Chess. But the Vietnamese played Go. The war was lost before it began."

The war we borrowed trillions to fight ... plus the 2 massive tax cuts during W and another trillion dollar tax cut when they were last 'unrestrained by liberals' in 2017.

Don't hear a peep from them now about massive debt and deficits the GOP created all on their own, do we?

I find it ironic people like Jeff raise a big stink on Social Security Medicare and Single Payer saying we can't afford it. Yet they are silent about the 22 TRILLION lost by the Pentagon. The 7 trillion wasted in wars. Oh and their voracious support for the 1.5 TRILLION tax cut. What shmucks they are.

That's because the pentagon didn't lose 22 trillion or anything even remotely close to that.

China Missiles Could Overwhelm U.S. Military in Asia in Hours', Says Think Tank

I don't believe this.

I wonder which "think tank" ... was it the CIA?

Smells like disinformation to me.

Remember what Gore Vidal famously said ... drudge.com

Boaz: I am a big supporter on the ability of our front line units. If we were fighting a conventional war, (No Nukes either way) the US Military could, in time, defeat the CCPA. BUT; we would have to have a friendly port to bring in our equipment, (remember it took us six months to be ready for Desert Storm, money was not an issue, (Saudi) payed for most of it, the equipment and troops were mostly close (Germany, 7th Corps) and still it was called a miracle that we were able to do it and have the troops ready to move. Also we would not have total air control, we could achieve it in selected areas for short periods of time. Additionally, the CCPA can field 2.5 million troops, we would have to go to the draft, and then build the army to fight them and have the equipment made and shipped. If we had the support of the American people like WWII, maybe we could pull it off. But only if NO NUKES.

#17,

Japan almost destroyed China. Right now, China cannot project power out of their own area. And while they do have alot of soldiers, they cannot get to the U.S. and invading China wouldnt even be in the plans. To degrade their ability to wage war would be. It wouldnt take long to get air superiority, we have more planes and definitely more ships.

The one thing I wouldnt want to do against them is wage a ground war.

Like Obama said, we don't believe in 'dumb wars' someone trumps up with lies that killed thousands of our soldiers, killed and wounded millions of Iraqis, cost U.S. taxpayers untold trillions for the war and future health care of the tens of thousands wounded, the loss of respect for America, starting ISIS (founded by former Iraqi soldiers), etc etc etc.

#9 | Posted by boaz

After the bombing was done, Bush & Co should have listened to Gen. Jake Garner (ret) who BEGGED them to protect factories so people could work, and NOT to disband the Iraqi Army; two steps that would have led to less discord among the public and prevented the founding of ISIS by former Iraqi military.

The Iraq War will go down as both the biggest blunder of the 21st Century and the most costly lie told.

That was RIGEL, not me.

Not too many of those in Pakistan I imagine.

There are 5 main countries/nationalities in Pakistan. Out of those 5, two of them are considered "white" by the US Census Bureau, not Asian (maybe they were smoking weed at the time...).

People from those 2 groups can be blond. But usually it's dark brown or dark red.

There was also a "sport" (if you can call it that) of kidnapping British ladies during the good old British days. Maybe that is why, unlike the rest of the Indian Subcontinent, these people were never defeated by the British. LOL

You can see it in the eyes even today. These are not Asian eyes.

The only reason we would ever go to war with China is if some Trump ------- takes the saber rattling too seriously, "fears for his life" while playing the normal cat and mouse games, and pulls the trigger. Even then itvwould require a lot of people on both sides to suspend reasoning and escalate.

The post is correct except it doesn't ne necessarily have to be a "trump -------". It could be any president. But I suppose that uncontrolled TDS compelled you to insert that, so I understand.

I disagree, China held Japan at bay from 1937-1945. Japan used everything against the Chinese yet China survived with it's peasant army and it's population's determination. Japan could never disengage it's forces that were tied down by the Chinese enabling the allies to prevail in the Pacific.

Gold, bro.

Presuming the observation spheres all appear the same, a variation to disassemble detonation matrix would seem logical. This is the ultimate escalatory element and thus secret.

Changing the airflow internally, or just altering the exterior could be the easiest way to destabilize them. Maybe superheating space it's traveling into..

#42 | Posted by redlightrobot at 2019-08-20 09:43 PM | Reply

hmm, losing CA, OR, and WA (and perhaps collateral damage for the leafs in Vancouver) would cost the chinese a lot in real estate investment. In the worst case, having the left coast sink into the ocean before we respond wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
