Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, August 22, 2019

Eugene Robinson: [Donald] Trump is flailing. He berates his handpicked chairman of the Federal Reserve, Jerome H. Powell, for not cutting interest rates fast enough to goose the economy. He practically begs Chinese President Xi Jinping for a meeting to work out a trade deal -- any trade deal, apparently -- and is met with silence. He threatens more tariffs but then backs down, at least for now. According to published reports, he sees himself as the victim of a conspiracy to exaggerate the growing economic anxiety in order to hurt his chances of winning a second term. He entertains grandiose, almost Napoleonic fantasies -- purchasing Greenland from Denmark in what he calls "a large real estate deal," perhaps, or imposing a naval blockade to force regime change in Venezuela. He apparently spent much of this past weekend fuming about not getting credit for how his New Hampshire rally broke an attendance record for the arena that had been set by Elton John.

#4, right, he's a ------- fat ------ who sucks Putin's dick, and anybody who can't see why it isn't right to say that is probably one too.

Or maybe it's more than a bit hypocritical to engage in fat shaming, ageist and ableist comments, or homophobic remarks while acting outraged by Trump's behavior.

Your faux outrage is showing, considering you're more than willing to call out regular people for doing EXACTLY what the president does on a daily basis. Please feel free to prove me wrong by linking to the post where you've called the president out for his bad behavior as well.

On topic, he also threatened to release thousands of ISIS fighters into Europe yesterday. Into Europe - our allies! I guess ISIS isn't quite as defeated as we think it is. But keep ignoring these very dangerous comments and concern trolling anonymous people online.

What is Trump's obsession with Elton John about?

Trump keeps measuring his popularity against Elton's.

Extremely Focused Trump Now Comparing Himself to Elton John

If I have any outrage, it's because you drooling morons don't have a damn clue how your hypocrisy at mirroring Trump's behavior has helped him from the beginning, and is continuing to help him. SMDH.

This is loser reasoning. You're basically saying that people vote for Trump because they don't like his opponents' hypocrisy, not because they think he's a good leader. In other words, people vote for Trump to "own the Libs". This is one of the dumbest reasons to vote for someone.

Also, Trump's one of the most hypocritical people out there, but that's no problem for many of his voters. So it's not hypocrisy that bothers them, it's... other political party hypocrisy. And nothing the other side does will change their minds, because in Trump supporters' minds, the left is hypocritical for even existing.

Also, still no comment on Trump's hissy fit melt down comments yesterday? How DO you feel about his size comparisons to Elton John or, you know, threatening to release ISIS into Europe?

#10 | POSTED BY BARTIMUS

Doesn't mean its not accurate though. That is basically what today's Republican has become (or maybe it is what they have always been).

Childish little snowflakes will vote like childish little snowflakes. Means they will vote based upon emotions and "hurt feelings". Instead of logic and what they think is actually best for the country, like real adults do.

And Republicans on this forum keep saying we need to pander to these delicate little crybabies to prevent them from voting for Trump again. Which means, apparently, fluffing up their precious little self esteem by lying to them and telling them that they actually ARE "good people", even if they do support narcissists and racists, and by saying saying that they DO make good choices, even though they voted for a crappy person and even crappier president like Donald Trump.

I am sorry, but unlike Republicans there are lows that I will not drop to. And enabling this type of whiny behavior, even if it means that Trump gets elected again, crosses a line for me that I am not willing to cross. I try very hard not to do things that I am ashamed of, and that sort of simpering pandering definitely crosses the line.

"Instead of logic and what they think is actually best for the country, like real adults do."

You have it all wrong. They've been desperate to tell people who aren't like them to go F themselves for decades now, precisely because they believe that America was at its best when gays were in the closet and minorities knew their place.

#10 | POSTED BY BARTIMUS

Of course it is. It is like Goatman keeps saying. You know someone is losing if they start shouting childish insults at you, because it is obvious that they have nothing else.

That is pretty much the definition of the Republican party at this point. That is why they elected Trump. They know that they cannot actually accomplish anything (and they haven't, except for funneling money to their donors and mistreating non-white people) so all they can do is make themselves feel good by throwing the childish insults, or electing someone to do it in their stead.

The Republican party is going down the drain. Even with control over all three branches of government they could not get anything accomplished. Obama was able to pass the ACA. Even though they screeched about it every chance they had for 8 years, once they had ALL THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT, they were STILL unable to repeal it.

Republicans always accuse their opponents of the things that they themselves are doing (voter fraud, corruption, nepotism, etc). Trump constantly calls his opponents "losers". It is not that complicated. Simple minds are easy to figure out if you have enough data.

"The Republican party is going down the drain.

POSTED BY GTBRITISHSKULL"

I was an active member of this blog when Obama was elected. Every lefty on this site said the very same thing you said in your post, except they were basing it on the fact that Bush trashed the party, not Trump as you are saying now. They were saying that the Republican party was dead and that Democrats would be in full control of Congress and the WH for a long time -- one person even being so bold as to say 40 years.

But then what happened? Two short years later the Republicans swarmed the house, retaking it in almost unprecedented numbers. I think it was around 63 seats. Next election, they took the Senate and Obama did win, but with 3 fewer states than he did 4 years earlier.

My point is, GTBRITISHSKULL, Don't count your chickens before they are hatched. Don't put so much faith in your party and don't debase the Republicans so. There is no reason to believe that 2010 and the following elections won't happen again.

Hell, the Democratic party was too dull and inept to find someone to beat a loser like Trump! Who says that won't happen again? ALready the Democratic primaries are looking like a bunch of mindless, wandering sheep trying to figure out which direcion to go. Just as you can't imagine it would have happened in 2010, you are now imagining it can't happen again.

Don't get too cocky.

The idea that anyone is asking you to care about what hardcore Trump supporters think is a straw man argument. You guys are lumping everyone from disaffected voters who felt they were being ignored to those who felt they were being attacked if they weren't 100% on board with the other party's platform, including people who did not even vote for Trump, in with those people. THAT is a loser strategy, and you are literally morons if you cannot see that. It says a lot that you are willing to see Trump get re-elected rather than let go of this loser strategy.

Ignorance as to who Trump is might explain away why those ostensibly not racist who voted for trump in 2016, if it weren't for a majority of those people continuing to support him today.

Which goes back my point about how criticism of Trump's bigot-baiting rings hollow and distracts away from Trump's behavior when the people attacking him make bigoted statements, as the OP and others here do on a regular basis. But of course, you'll accuse me of doing mental gymnastics just for applying simple logic and noticing how this has and will probably continue to work in "fat elderly European homosexual" Trump's favor. But hey, it's more that people feel good pointing that out that it is to defeat Trump, right?

Yes, it was primarily a combination of disliking Hillary (and her extremely obnoxious surrogates), and not wanting to continue the Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clin- legacy cycles.

I think many voters decided well in advance of the 2016 election that they didn't want another Bush or Clinton in the white house.

If Trump suddenly drops out of sight for a few days or a week, that's because someone is locking him in his room so his behavior can't be recorded and medications can be administered intra-muscularly.

Trump hasn't melted down AGAIN. He hasn't been sane since the first day. What we're all waiting for is worse.

Kansas was going to Trump no matter how Laura voted. Even if every third party voter in Kansas voted for Clinton the state still would have gone to Trump. So that should go into the calculus when you attempt to lay blame at her feet.
