Twitchy would certainly add some humor to the GOP primary.

This will not improve Trump's already fraying sanity.

Exactly. No way Trump will tolerate someone else getting looked at.

It's been an interesting day. Between Trump conflating himself with God and damning American Jews for being insufficiently Jewish, we're edging closer to involuntary commitment.

I wonder what derisive nickname Trump will come up with for this guy.

It takes balls to run against a sitting President in your own party. Not that he has a chance though. He probably won't even win one state, but it would be worth it just for the 2 a.m. Tweet storms.

All he has to do to burn down the place is win the New Hampshire Republican primary.

Hard to imagine anyone having cause to bash God, I mean Trump, isn't it?

"President Donald Trump is calling off an upcoming trip to Denmark after its prime minister rebuffed his interest in buying Greenland, a Danish territory, the White House announced on Tuesday".

NBC News, today.

This would be a third florid and immediate sign of Trump's insanity.

"Greenland, a Danish territory"

Greenland is what might be called a Free Associated State. As the Danes correctly state, they have no right to sell the State of Greenland to anyone.

War is always an option, Donald.

Yep, we're definitely wandering into 25th amendment territory with crap:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time....

....The Prime Minister was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct. I thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling sometime in the future!

I doubt Kasich would be able to pull off any kind of competitive fundraising. It would be interesting to see him debate Trump, though. I don't see any Democrat being able to match Trump in fundraising, either. I'd actually like to see Huntsman throw his hat into the ring. He's a Republican I like. He still works for Trump until October 2, however.

If they didn't vehemently disagree with Trump, they wouldn't be thinking of running against him in the primaries.

I didn't think it was possible, but Trump is getting more nutzy-putzy by the day.

I know: Quick, somebody nominate him for a Nobel prize to calm him down!

And as if on cue:

Aaron Rupar @atrupar

Trump concluded his comments about guns by saying, oddly, "We have great mental illness."

From the WaPo article:

"And in 1946, President Harry Truman's administration went even further, offering to purchase Greenland from Denmark in exchange for $100 million in gold."

Run Kasich, Run! For what it is worth, I would have voted for you over both Trump and HRC in the last general election. Probably not the same this time around. (Though I do genuinely dislike Kamala Harris and could imagine not voting for her if she heads the ticket.)

Big fan of Huntsman and would love to see it happen, but I don't think he could attract mainstream report in this day of media coverage. too decent of a person to do what seems necessary in 2020 to get support/star appeal/ media even if it was an open seat election for the presidency.

#20 | Posted by Sniper at 2019-08

The United States offered to buy Greenland about seventy years ago for $500 million. We'd occupied the place during WWII. So no, the idea is not new.

But that was when Greenland was a colony. Trump is acting crazy because he's trying to buy an independent nation from people who do not own it, and is causing a diplomatic row with a close ally because of it.

Trump's Great Greenland Adventure is merely one of several genuinely screwy things he's done like, all at once. The Danes think he's crazy, because he is. The Greenlanders think he's crazy, because he is. The world thinks he's crazy, because he is.

This will be the first time someone has challenged the incumbent in a primary since Teddy Kennedy challenged Carter.
