What good are the forces if they don't have the fire fighting infrastructure for them to utilize? (just going by headline, I can't get past the paywall)

Andrew Luck's retirement gets a banner headline. This globally significant event goes pretty much unnoticed. Nowadays, I guess if a news story doesn't have Trump's name in it, nobody cares.

From last week. But.

Fires could turn Amazon rainforest into a desert

The Amazon rainforest is becoming increasingly vulnerable to catastrophic forest fires due to a combination of droughts, climate change and human activities such as deforestation, farming and habitat fragmentation, a major study has concluded.

One of the last great wildernesses on earth " known as the lungs of the world " is balancing dangerously close to a "tipping point" where forest fires will become so commonplace and extensive that they will change much of the landscape forever, scientists said.

The thing is. If the world is going to drastically change due to greed, stupidity, and negligence. I'd like to take some time off from work and enjoy some carefree days with friends and family.

Maybe travel a bit more.

I'd hate to find out the world is ending while at work.

Which is a huge contributing factor on why I decided to retire at the age of 57.

40 is a bit early for me to retire.

Unless the world is ending.

Then it's time.

Yeah, after letting it burn for three weeks. The land was promised to foreign investors. And I think its funny how he blamed the fires on his political enemies. :)

Also, the MSM covered it up completely. Newsweek did run an article - minimalising it, saying forest fires in Africa where worse. So we know who the foreign investors are....
