Artifacts including stone tools and animal bone fragments found in Idaho dating back about 16,600 years represent what may be the oldest evidence of humans in the Americas and offer insight into the routes people took as they spread into the New World.

Our species first appeared in Africa roughly 300,000 years ago and later trekked worldwide. There has been a scientific debate about when humans first entered the Americas, crossing the former land bridge that connected Siberia to Alaska.

The new findings bolster the hypothesis that people in the initial migration into the Americas followed a route down the Pacific coast rather than a route through an inland ice-free corridor as some scientists have argued.

Certain stone projectile points, which would have been attached to the ends of spears or dart shafts, closely resembled examples found in northern Japan dating a bit earlier than at the Cooper's Ferry site, the researchers said.

The article is about American immigration and how America... once again... failed to stop illegal immigrants.

The point is, America has failed to stop immigrants since 17,000 years ago... what makes Trump think he will succeed now?

Failing to stop illegal immigrants is a proud American tradition.

Where was the ice sheet 16000 years ago?

I have looked all over and cannot find a good description of where the ice sheet was. What amazes me is how there was a clear path all the way from the arctic ocean to the lower USA along the left coast. How does that happen? I am begening to think the asia to North America migration across the land bridge is BS.

Who really cares. There is evidence people came in from every where. Africa, Europe and Asia. Remember during the last ice age the sea levels were over 200' lower. The vast majority were from northern Asia. That means the distances needed to cross the sea was considerably less. Many more islands that are now submerged were high and dry.

Their ancestors still live there. Instead of grunting 'oooga booga' and carrying spears, they're heavily armed and grunt 'I do not recognize the U.S. government' from the 'safety' of their militia compounds.

If you don't know where we came from then how do you think you know where we (as a species) are going? Especially if you don't even (seem to) know where you are right now (in the scheme of things).
