... Current and former spies are floored by President Donald Trump's fervent defense of Russia at this year's G7 ...

For me, it's not just the G7, but with nearly every public interaction I've seen between Pres Trump and Pres Putin. There is a very strange dynamic between the two.

Looking at the two as the were leaving the conference room in Helsinki, the face on each of them was quite telling of the relationship. Pres Trump's face looked like a child who just got scolded. Pres Putin had a slight, almost evil-looking, grin.

Throw in Turkey (with one of the largest militaries in NATO, behind the US) moving closer to Russia, and the dynamic is indeed strange.

Another mystery source. You go old. Another bs story like the russian co-signer story.

@#2 ... Another mystery source. ...

The article cites a source by name.

But to your point, given Pres Trump's strong dislike for anyone who expresses an opinion that runs counter to pure and unadulterated gushing accolades towards him, can you really blame those who want to speak out but have a concern about their welfare if they go on the record?

Just look at the Republicans in Congress.

"The agent requested anonymity because they feared that speaking publicly on the matter would jeopardize their job."

Career/paycheck over country and national security. check. Supposedly, Trump is a "Russian asset", but it's not important enough to sacrifice oneself for their country. That's because it's political rhetoric, and unfounded conjecture.

This person is correct; they would lose their job if they identified themselves spreading this manure.

"Hello, Business Insider news? FBI here. I'd like to report that Trump is a Russian asset. My name? um. well. I could lose my job."

You don't need to be an FBI agent to know Trump is Putin's bitch. You just need a functioning brain. Which precludes the trolls on this site from recognizing it.

So much so that Trump slapped more sanctions on Russia 4 days ago, ostensibly at Putin's request.

The link was to the Killian documents controversy, which did not involve Dan Rather falsifying documents. You must have posted the wrong link. Care to post a link to Dan Rather falsifying documents or admit you were talking out of your ass yet?

Yes, I do care. I'm not jumping through hoops for you. I posted the link once. PGUP is your friend if you want to see it again.

- Dan Rather falsifying documents

That's how lying Dan lost his gig.

#13 | Posted by SheepleSchism at 2019-08-30 11:35 PM | Reply

no, it isn't.

he received documents that turned out to be false, but didn't vet them properly before reporting on them.

dan rather did not fabricate or falsify documents, idiots.

He stuck with the story even after the obvious forgery was pointed out until CBS finally said, "Give it up Dan" and forced him to retire early by not renewing his contract over the incident. So yes, he is guilty.

@#7 ... So much so that Trump slapped more sanctions on Russia 4 days ago, ostensibly at Putin's request. ...

imo, it looks as if Pres Putin's goal is to disrupt the West, to cause so much infighting among and within the NATO nations as to weaken his enemy.

To that end, Pres Trump is an ideal President for Pres Putin's purposes. Pres Putin may or may not like Pres Trump, but Pres Putin finds Pres Trump useful. Pres Putin is playing chess, Pres Trump is playing checkers.

The sanctions you mention are a tactical thing.

Pres Putin is, and has been, working at a strategic level here.

Your comment is at the tactical level.

He stuck with the story

Which doesn't mean he "falsified documents," which was your claim.

It's genuinely bizarre how unwilling you are to admit you were wrong or at minimum misspoke. I'm really only bringing it up at this point to demonstrate how ------- weird you are. So, thanks?

Dan lost his job over it. Tell CBS they were wront and you know better.

Getting fired doesn't mean you falsified documents. He didn't falsify documents. You can't change history to suit your liking. You cannot link to a single source which shows that Dan Rather falsified documents. Instead of admitting you were talking out of your ass, you're strangely trying to round up his conduct to falsification even though it's obvious he didn't falsify anything.

You have a mental condition.

"Getting fired doesn't mean you falsified documents."

Rather lost his job over the Killian docs. Deal with it. Or don't.

Why are you so adamant on denying well documented history? Again, tell CBS they are wrong and yoi know better. Maybe Dad will get his job back.

He was set up, he fell for it. But we all know they were based on facts that were true. Bush did go AWOL and worked on a political campaign, that isn't even in dispute. I am so tired of people who site dirty tricks to destroy a career just to support a crooked politician like ------- George Bush. He's still not and never was my President. He was a liar trying to gain favor in his father's eyes but instead just took us to an unnecessary war in Iraq and Afghanistan. 1,000,000 Iraqis died as a result. 4000 Americans died as a result. Trillions of our dollars were funnelled to Haliburton. How anyone continued to vote Republican after the disaster that was George Bush is beyond my comprehension.

Clinton didn't have sex with that woman. Dan Rather didn't get busted lying with fake news. Obama dint' kno 'nuffin bout Fast and Furious. Loretta Lynch talked about grandkids on the tarmac. Hillary didn't fund the Steele Dossier. Weiner didn't have classified documents on his laptop. DNC didn't destroy Bernie for Her Bitterness.

You goobs are liars.

Hey, Joe, stop helping.

The thread went to hell when you decided a 15 yr old story about a journalist was more significant than US Intel Operatives calling POTUS a Russian Asset.

C'mon, man...

Given the track record of the intelligence agencies in the last 30 years, I would have serious doubts about their judgements. Trump might be correct not to trust their conclusions.

#30 - You're buying into Cheney's OSP's garbage "intelligence" product and conflating it with the legitimate intelligence agencies. That's what Trump wants. That way you can believe him over them. "Every authoritarian leader eventually asserts himself as the only arbiter of truth."

You are watching it happen.
You are participating in the lie.
Step back and see if you can see it.
