"That the index has remained in contractionary territory for six of eight months this year shows that the effects of US tariffs are resonating through the Chinese economy. The manufacturing PMI only showed expansion in March and April of this year."

I said several months ago (and a few times since then) China has a whole lot more to lose in a trade war than the US since our economy is much more resilient than theirs and theirs is so dependent on exprots to the US.

I was scoffed at by the usual hyperpartisan suspects.

The only reason I posted this is because of the source,

Tech and hard goods will be back online in time for Christmas, pork and soybeans at better prices will head West in time for the election.

The SCMP has been brutally honest throughout the trade war, but since they don't get the official talking points issued to the MSMDNC on a daily basis they aren't screaming "Orange Man Bad!!!!"

It's far from over and I'd love to see Americans back to work in manufacturing but we can't undo 30 years of trade in 4. It's a all or none mindset.

In December 2008 the index was 38.7 and 77.8 in May 2010.

49.5 is almost neutral.

Tell the Chinese from whom this article originates. Maybe it'll make them feel better as their manufacturing continues to falter.

The bloated------------ waved his magic wand and American manufacturing contracted for the first time in a decade. #winning

#12 I don't need to. The educated ones already know that 49.5 is close to 50.

The stupid ones will just pretend this fact fits their narrative.

Tell it to the Chinese who wrote the article. I'm sure they'll be impressed by some Yankee calling them stupid for accurately reporting their situation.

Does TDS do this to you, or were you born this way?
