Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

More than 500 people were injured over the holiday weekend by stingrays in Southern California beaches. Yet officials said that the high Labor Day weekend numbers weren't because of an influx of the sea creatures but rather an influx of humans in the water looking to enjoy the last moments of summer. ... The best way to stay away from the fish, [California state parks official Kevin Pearsall] said, is to let them know you're there, specifically with one move he called "the stingray shuffle." "It's shuffling your feet when you go out there. If you shuffle and let them know you're there, they will scatter away," he said.

I learned to shuffle my feet at an early age. Luckily, I've never been stung by a sting ray.

Learning that technique has come in handy: At night, when the bedroom's dark, I have to use the same technique to keep from tripping over one of our 3 dogs :)

Crikey

Referenced to "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin who was stabbed hundreds of times by a stingray.

Animals are like people... some don't like to be touched or fondled...

Catch my drift... Mr Biden...

"...who was stabbed hundreds of times by a stingray."

What a strange way to bring up Joe Biden.

"some don't like to be touched or fondled."

That's true but Joe Biden in showing genuine affection with his hugs. They're not untoward . . . if you get MY drift.

Unlike the surprise shoulder massage Angela Merkel received from George Bush which she recognized as an attempt to demean her in stature at a G8 summit . . . to which she responded with disgust.

Nobody responds to Joe Biden with disgust. Surprised maybe by his unbridled affection but not with disgust.

Anecdote:

My FORMER auto mechanic was a devotee of Steve Irwin. He and his wife were alone on a long hiking trip far from civilization when he encountered a coral snake on the path. According to his wife, my FORMER auto mechanic decided to test Steve Irwin's snake handling technique.

And nothing more needs to be said about that.

But it's true, some animals (like people) just don't like to be touched.

Hey, Its a free country, I'm not one to judge...

I'm even OK if he let's the Presidential Organ out of its cage... God knows, we have had a lot of secret masons as Presidents in the past...

The ol' Pull and Tug is now just another secret handshake...

I bet a stingray barb to the calf would hurt like a mofo.

I was once an adventurer like yourself, then I took an arrow to the knee.

#10 | Posted by SheepleSchism, usually when someone gets hit with a stingray we push the barb on through after cutting the tail off. You can not pull it out, the barbs will break off and start a serious infection. Best advice, don't wade in the shallows after dark. It is the best time to go flounder fishing tho. Shuffle, don't step.
