Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Fahrenthold says in the past, an honor system helped keep presidents from using the office to benefit themselves. Not Trump: "He exploits honor systems." Vice President Mike Pence, Attorney General William Barr, Saudi lobbyists, foreign government officials are among the people who have booked rooms or ballrooms at Trump Hotels, raising serious ethical questions.

Sociopaths do this. They perceive following rules and laws as an unaccountable weakness other people unaccountably engage in.

Good point. Trump should release the financial records and prove this reporter wrong.

Trump must be found that now, right? Oh no. He's fighting tooth and nail to stop the overwhelming number of inquiries. That really says it all.

"Reporter Says Trump Profits As President"

How is this even in dispute? He's made over $100M just playing golf at his own properties. And there's a hundred other examples of things like that.

Air Force crew made an odd stop on a routine trip: Trump's Scottish resort

Now the layover is part of a broader House inquiry into military spending at and around the Trump property.

In early Spring of this year, an Air National Guard crew made a routine trip from the U.S. to Kuwait to deliver supplies.

What wasn't routine was where the crew stopped along the way: President Donald Trump's Turnberry resort, about 50 miles outside Glasgow, Scotland.

Since April, the House Oversight Committee has been investigating why the crew on the C-17 military transport plane made the unusual stay " both en route to the Middle East and on the way back " at the luxury waterside resort, according to several people familiar with the incident. But they have yet to receive any answers from the Pentagon.

Taken together, the incidents raise the possibility that the military has helped keep Trump's Turnberry resort afloat " the property lost $4.5 million in 2017, but revenue went up $3 million in 2018

Now why would an AF crew need to stay at a golf resort?

THis is where Fat Nixon's ball washers will do magical gyrations to excuse this obvious stealing from taxpayers.

"Now why would an AF crew need to stay at a golf resort?"

To save a struggling airport, which, if closed, would mean the resort would be hurt.

Most politicians do this to varying degrees, but Trump will probably be remembered as the president who was the most shameless and ostentatious about it.

He works with no salary. Is he expected to have NO income at all?

"He works with no salary."

Lie.

#13 | Posted by Danforth at 2019-09-08 03:42 PM | Reply

"Lie"

Given that he cannot legally forgo a salary, Trump is donating his salary once a quarter. Peter Baker of the New York Times reported today that Trump will give $100,000, his second quarter salary, to the Department of Education. Trump donates second quarter salary of $100,000 to Education Department.
Ergo he gets no salary.

"Ergo he gets no salary."

You just admitted he gets a salary, then does what he wants with it. Ergo, he gets a salary.

Did you miss the original poster's point? It was that Trump took no salary, so we should expect him to grift.

Agree, or disagree?

#19 | Posted by Danforth at 2019-09-08 06:20 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

So if I give you $10, then you give it away, you end up with nothing.
Ergo you got nothing.

"Ergo you got nothing."

No, I got $10, then I did what I wanted with it.

He clarified it just fine........for me.

You? Not possible.

I don't care that trump donates his salary away.

It's fine but I don't care. And it doesn't give him a license to earn income from other sources.

I don't need to call someone a liar for it.

"he appears fluent"

Actually, he doesn't seem to understand what the root word "get" means.

For example, if I gave you $10, did you get anything?

If you then gave it away, did you never get it?

If you gave it away, you *end up...with nothing.
Ergo ..No Pay

I can't believe anybody still uses the stupid "he gets no salary" talking point.

A perfect example of how people are easily influenced by marketing. (Russian interference reference in case that's not apparent)

Ok
To say he *takes no salary is more generous sounding anyways. Thanks

Either way, Constitution says "NO". The Founders didn't want a President influenced by other people's money ("foreign or domestic"). That's why there is an Emoluments clause in the first place.
