This is a terrible idea, these kids will be raised by their 40 brothers and their sisterwives.

There should be ethical standards by the medical community. It is just wrong to perform IVF on a woman this onld.

Of course this isn't the US, so perhaps US doctors are more ethical. Also, it's India, a grossly overpopulated country. Granted, it's only two more lives in a country of 1.3 billion but still -- what were the doctors who did this thinking?

"This spring, a 61-year-old woman from Nebraska made headlines when she gave birth to her own granddaughter through IVF after acting as a surrogate for her son and his husband. Cecile Eledge had acted as a surrogate for Matthew Eledge and Elliot Dougherty, using a donated egg from Doughtery's sister and Eledge's sperm."

Adds new meaning to being a mother f___er.

It was an IVF pregnancy -- AKA test tube babies.

The kids don't stand a chance. Spare the rod and spoil the child.

Mind you it's India so they probably just dump a bucket of acid on them. Or is that just a Pakistan thing?

(Spoiler alert: Yes.)

Who inseminated that with the intention of making babies? Gross. The industrial revolution was a mistake.

Relax. That was a double entendre.

Willowby is right.

That said, why is anyone celebrating a woman who birthed children that she won't be able to raise? I'm certainly not. And, from reading the posts here, neither are most posters here. I would say, we are all pretty much in agreement, this woman is not a hero.

Some environmentalists, eco-terrorists, anarcho-primitivists, the anti-civ movement, college professors, etc.

IOW, all the boogeymen in Nulli's mind. He won't find a quote, unless it's from some random internet nutter.

Look up the "anti-civ" movement, which has a substantial following in Western, industrial societies. Some names, texts and organizations include John Zerzan--"Against Civilization" and other books, Derrick Jensen--author of "Endgame," "Industrial Society and it's Future," AKA "The Unabomber Manifesto" authored by Theodore Kacynski, Earth First!, Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, etc.
