Joe Biden's front-running presidential bid will live or die by the black vote. His campaign tacitly acknowledged it this week.

Moral of the story, if you want Biden to lose, muster the vote against him in South Carolina.

If 2016 was any indication of SC's adherence to corporate centrist dems, Hillary beat Bernie 73-26%. I expect Biden to win the state easily.

I agree, it also doesn't hurt that Biden has wrapped the Obama legacy firmly around his shoulders and African Americans in the South love it.

It will be interesting to see what the Black voting numbers in the Northeast and California are for Biden.

#3 I expect it to largely track with 2016 - progressives will do better in the far NE, Upper Midwest, Rockies and PNW, with Biden cleaning up in the South.

All of us in South Carolina have blood in our eyes, so it's agood match.

Nothing else matches, but whatever the eye thing.

Hey Quinnipiac Pol has pre_ordained Bidens victory.

Haven't you heard.

Joe just needs to reach out and grab Carolina by the hands.

"Moral of the story, if you want Biden to lose, muster the vote against him in South Carolina."

If the left can control their emotions and resist the urge to call voters racists if they voted for trump the first time or are on the fence about Biden now, then perhaps they have a chance.

The left will struggle with this.

That Biden is still considered a serious candidate just serves to show that too many people really aren't paying attention.
It has not gone unnoticed that his strongest support seems to be coming from Republicans.
That's not a comment about him, no, it's more of a comment about how dishonest Republicans actually are.
To them it's not about leadership of our government, it's more like a game. I've noticed one thing in my life, I have freinds and family who demonstrate it. The more value you place in things like football games the less importance you place on actual leadership becomes because winning becomes more important than anything else.

Joe is one of the few sane Democrats. If he can get the nomination without have to pander too much to the left wing loonies, Trump will be in trouble.

I agree 100%.

Biden:
-a corporate centrist
-a war hawk
-opposed busing for desegregation
-had to be dragged kicking and screaming to support gay rights
-voted for the iraq war
-supported making it harder to file bankruptcy

On top of his record of basically being Republican Light, he's a nonstop gaffe machine who will make it way too easy for Trump to make fun of him. Biden doesn't have the energy or the chops to make Trump look like the dimwit he is, and i wonder if he ever did.

Such intense spin. Especially after the last election, this Biden push is full twilight zone.

Like I said, Joe Biden's strongest supporters are Republicans

Biden can never run away from some of the things he supported. His banruptcy bill for instance. His crime bill for another. Biden has been Republican-like for his entire career. I do understand that he represented the banker-state of Delaware but I just don't want a bank representative to my our new President.

I can't wait for Biden to flip all the southern states blue.

Just like Hillary.

She won all the southern states during the primaries.

And she was going to turn Texas blue!

Repeating the strategy of 2016 will result on the same failure as 2016.

The moderates will vote for him....because the republicans can't hit Biden with any of that stuff.

and democrats will vote for him...because he's a democrat.

"Biden doesn't have the energy or the chops to make Trump look like the dimwit he is"

what's your evidence of that? compared to the field, he looks strong as any, except Warren, IMO.

actually he can. the GOP won't hammmer him for it and all the dems have to do is shut up.

You're right. Let's change the strategy and not run Hillary this time.

Watching the civil war in the Democrat party between the surging socialist-Left and the old-guard is going to sell a lot of popcorn. Enjoy!

Actually they will. When has lack of truth ever stopped a Republican slur against a Democrat?

Remember how Gore was "the most liberal" Senator was he was running? Remember how John Kerry was "the most liberal" when he was running? Republicans simply pegged whatever they voted for as the most liberal position...even if they had voted for it as well...and....voila! The most liberal person EVAH is running!!!

#21 | Posted by Danforth at 2019-09-09 11:20 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

what's your evidence of that?

You mean aside from the fact that he can barely spit out a sentence without misspeaking or having a subconjunctival hemmorhage?

Biden has never been all that quick on his feet. At his current age, even less so. It's going to take someone with energy, quick wit and precise manner of speaking to take down Trump in a debate. Biden has none of those things.

And just like hillary, biden will win the nomination by winning states like SC that mean NOTHING in the general election because dems never win them anyway.

Nominate the person that wins the swing states in the primary, not the person who wins the red states. Duh.

You underestimate the Trump campaign's lack of shame. They'll find ways to criticize him for it even while Trump does or wants to do tentimes worse.

Instead of having a civil war, your party just rolled over and let a con man seize the whole party. Congrats. You're so much better than us.

No doubt they'll attack Biden for sniffing a woman's long hair, while ignoring Trump's grabbing of the short hairs.

how does Biden's right wing positions on crime, bankruptcy, etc. make it easy to hit him with them?

how does trump him biden with the iraq war, for example?

They'll make up a false position, and attack that.

I'd buy straw futures.

Just like they'll attack Biden for his gaffes while ignoring Trump's own gaffes and 10,,000 lies.

Attacking biden for a false position.....well, yes Trump is going to do that...just like he will any democratic nominee.

Biden's not special in that case.....they're all vulnerable to that.

I was specifically referring to those right leaning positions.

"I was specifically referring to those right leaning positions."

You mean when Biden said he'd release all violent criminals into YOUR neighborhood, and made it easier for those deadbeat Democrats to declare bankruptcy?

If you don't think Trump will attack Biden from the left and from the right, you haven't been paying attention. Trump tries to appeal to every low information viter out there by being everything to everyone. He's going to do "great healthcare" until he doesn't. He's going to do "great background checks" until he doesn't. He wants our air and water to be "at a record clean" until he lets polluters dump waste in streams.

Trump has no shame when it comes to his persona attacks, and when he gets called out for attacking Biden from the left he'll just call it fake news.

Biden was "chosen" by Obama on a coin toss to shore-up the white vote, not black voters.
