Eight-and-a-half-months pregnant and experiencing contractions, an El Salvadoran woman who had crossed the Rio Grande and was apprehended by the Border Patrol was forced to go back to Mexico.

Good. Mexico is not a Third World country. She waited under a bridge yards away from the border right before she was getting ready to have a baby ... Yeah she cares about that kid. I wonder how the 1100 mile walk from Guatemala was. She's a caring mother

FTA:

" They are worried about their child being born in Mexico instead of the U.S. and what that might mean for their prospects of eventually entering the U.S., she said."

Translation:

"There go my chances to have an anchor baby"

A woman who knew she was pregnant, yet traveled 1,100 miles. A woman who put all her hopes in something not guaranteed. A woman who decided to not seek a hospital in the large border city of Matmoros where she was.

So somehow this is the fault of "Bethlehem"?

A woman afraid of something that was going to hurt her or her child. That's called courage.

Trump pretty much said he was going to end Birth Right Citizenship with an EO even though it would really require a Constitutional Amendment.

And yet this woman STILL tried to have her baby in the US.

So how is her plight not her own fault?

Mexico has 129 million people. I'm going out on a limb here and guessing they safely deliver babies every day. There is no problem here. Next.

How do you know this, Danni? Perhaps she just wanted to have her baby in the US and get free ---- from Uncle Sugar. In fact, the evidence strongly suggests that. If she feared for her baby, she would have gone to a hospital in Matamoros (pop 500,000 -- the size of Atlanta or Sacramento). But instead she decided to hunker down at the border.

The blame lies squarely with the mother. Why don't libs accept blame or assign it to the proper person?

Strange concept of "fair and just" you have, when defendants don't have access to an attorney:

"How it works in practice: Because most deportation proceedings are civil rather than criminal cases, the right to legal counsel often doesn't apply.

The Trump administration's zero-tolerance policy now requires most illegal border crossings to be tried as criminal cases, the exception being parents who cross the border illegally with children. After public outcry about separating families, the head of Customs and Border Protection said Monday the agency has stopped referring parents for prosecution. Other immigrants will still be charged with a crime.

Under the law, anyone facing a criminal charge has the right to counsel. However, the government is only required to provide counsel if the person is accused of a felony. Crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor." www.pbs.org

Laura,

"Christ was all about saving people."

His idea of saving people is likely not what you are implying.

First and foremost, we should repent, admit our sins with a humble spirit or spend eternity in hell.

Jesus said, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me."

Indeed Jesus talked about helping others but that's only part of His message.

Jesus wants you to be born again through Him.

Do you understand any of that or just the fuzzy feel good stuff like feeding people that any godless person will use to manipulate others.

Snoofy,

You are correct.

There are atrocities galore going on.

But who's to blame?

How much have people brought problems on themselves and now are suffering the consequences?

I've said before I am in support of DACA however, the immigration problem is so fraught with exceptions and people falling through cracks, it's terrible. Too many young people ignored the warnings about getting in the system and are now dealing with it.

Regardless, border laws much be enforced.

I would not want to be a judge and have to see these cases firsthand.

I'm sure it's heart breaking.

Things should never have been permitted to go on this long.

It is sad for these people that America turned a blind eye for so long and now must deal with a catastrophic problem.

All I'll say on this.

34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37 "Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40 "The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

41 "Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44 "They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

Using God's name in vain to attack someone?

You are showing disrespect for God.

Deuteronomy 5:11

I do not pretend to be anything more than what I am. Just a sinner.

Laura...be careful about judging and using God's name in vain. You are piling up offenses you will answer for someday.

You heart is hard. I can well imagine your life has been tough.

Sorry.

Who says that it does?

I was raised Catholic and the teachings of Christ were always the focus.

Once I got married I quit practicing my religion, for the most part, but there have been occasions where I've had to attend a Catholic mass and the New Testament has always been the focus. Ditto for the Catholic High School that I attended and that my older graduated from and my younger is currently a sophomore.

I think it's a case of confirmation bias for you and is most definitely for Laura - you see what you want to see.

Catholics aren't the problem. It's the "White Evangelicals" including, i.e., Southern Baptists and the Mega-Church pastors (i.e., Falwell, Graham, Osteen, etc.). The Pope thinks the Republican policies suck, too with the exception of abortion rights.
