When King won his most recent reelection campaign, I reported that some Iowans backed him despite his racist remarks, that they were willing to look past them because of King's conservative positions on guns and abortion.

By calling us stupid, deplorable, racist, and all those other names that they've come up with, it just turns you off," Nielsen said, shaking her head. "And you actually don't even want to hear them. Whether they have good points, you just block them off."

*puts shoe on*

Well, it fits...

Liberals gotta quit insulting people," he explained later, as we wrapped up our interview. "They've got to quit calling us names."

And "conservatives" need to stop interpreting what Trump and people like King say in order to downplay it.

Or start interpreting what libruls say to be equally benign.

This is how Trump wins a state like Iowa.

The left is going to insist on insulting not only the King supporters but the right leaning folks who don't necessarily support King.

Trump is counting on the left bashing anybody in Iowa who isn't a democrat.

King's ridiculous comments reveal that some folks don't care...they're voting for a republican regardless.

But the left needs to be careful to not insult folks who may very well not vote for Trump next time.....they are vulnerable right now. The last thing the left should do is use Steve King as an excuse to ravage anybody in Iowa who isn't a democrat.

King's ridiculous comments reveal that some folks don't care...they're voting for a republican regardless.

If they're that brainless then they don't really have a strong argument to be offended, do they?

no but in the process you'll manage to offend the wrong folks who's votes we want and need in order for Trump to lose next time.

what do you get out of offending those people anyway?

other than a cheap thrill, what's in it for you?

Calling stupid people stupid is never going to cure them of their stupidity. If anything, it can only serve for them to double down on their stupidity. Still, if there are people who are indifferent to King's rhetoric and support him in part to pwn the libs out of spite that's a bigger problem than that of those who are actively in support of him.

It's funny that they will -------- themselves to show up libs.

Keep on Trollin' eunuchs.

#5 no thrill. It's just unavoidable in most cases.

it's unavoidable for you. People with control over their disdain for folks like those in Iowa who support Steve King?

I'm hoping they can exercise some self-control and resist the urge to throw moderate Iowans under the bus over Steve King.

#9 it wouldn't be an across the board statement.

But when somebody like King continues to express the same sentiments and his supporters continue to say things like "I don't think that's what he means" after a while the only conclusion is the person you're speaking to is an idiot.

Sorry if the truth stings.

"throw moderate Iowans under the bus over Steve King."

If moderate Iowans are on the Steve King bandwagon, then they're not really moderate Iowans, now are they?

Yes, they're idiots.

I don't know what "across the board statement" means but if you think comments directed only towards Steve King supporters won't get thrown onto moderates....you're wrong.

They will...and Trump is counting on it.

the best strategy is to leave those idiots alone.
