Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

ALAMEDA, Calif. " The Oakland Raiders released disgruntled star receiver on Saturday before he ever played a game for the team. The Raiders made the move just hours after Brown requested his release in the latest turn in a dramatic first summer with the team. Brown was upset about his latest team fine over an outburst at practice at general manager Mike Mayock. That fine allowed the Raiders to void more than $29 million in guarantees over the next two years in Brown's contract. Oakland instead decided to cut ties entirely. The Raiders had been counting heavily Brown after trading a third and fifth-round pick to Pittsburgh for the game's most prolific receiver in March. They also gave him a new three-year contract worth $50.1 million that now is void following the release.

Lot of drama in this one .... I think he is now an unrestricted free-agent, and working on getting some of his money back from the Raiders.

Does Belichick really want this nutter?

If Belichick can't make him heel, AB is permanently out of work. Sign him to a 1-year $2 million contract. Regardless, AB is going to regret all this 5 years from now. He just flushed $30 million!

Put him on a tight leash like the Lakers have with Dwight Howard. Maybe it will work.

If you're too bad for the bad boys team it doesn't bode well for you. He can hang around with Kaepernick next season.

He's on the right team, if Aaron Hernandez is any indicator that the coach can keep his thugs effective on the field.

Putting on my Conspiracy Hat.

Pittsburgh wouldn't trade AB to the Patriots. He went to Oakland and dialed up the crazy. The Pat's get him as a free agent. His stay may last 2 weeks tops. If he deletes his Instagram, he may stick. He'll either be Randy Moss or Chad OchoCinco redux.

It would not surprise me in the least if Belichick did not have a thought planted into his head..."Call the GM mayonnaise and come to a winner."
