Black unemployment fell to a record low in August, helped by a jump in the number of black women on the job.

Interesting that these numbers are so low when we are told by the MSMDNC that the Trump Administration is racist.

Trump has done more for blacks in three years than Democrats running urban cities have done over the last 60 years.

Which begs the question, who's really been keeping them down all this time?

#1 - that's a non-sequitur and an odd attempt at some correlation.

I'm more curious how white middle America farmers are feeling since they're the ones that are going bankrupt.

The drop in unemployment is a trend that had been happening for many, many years under Obama's 8 years and continues to this day.

The bankruptcy of our farmers can be tied directly to Trump and his policies.

So far, here's what he's pinched off:

"Black unemployment fell to a record low in August, helped by a jump in the number of black women on the job."
"Unemployment among workers who identify themselves as Hispanic or Latino also fell in August to 4.2%, which matched a record low set earlier this year. "

'The drop in unemployment is a trend [...] under Obama's 8 years and continues to this day."

LOL. When it's good, it's Obama.

When the trend line keeps moving in the same direction, it's whatever put it on that path.

Trump does deserve credit,'credit for not screwing it ip.

But he didn't build this economy nor the favorable conditions for improvement. Obama did and will always deserve credit for that, no matter what stupid nonsense naysayers cook up.

Remember the familiar lament from President Barack Obama's team for eight long years?
"Two percent real GDP growth is the new normal for the U.S. economy."
Two percent annual growth wasn't even the "new normal" under President Obama, 1.64 percent was. Pitifully and sadly so.

"The Purdue Center for Commercial Agriculture's latest producer survey, which was conducted last month and released Tuesday, showed a record-high 78% of farmers said they believe the trade war will ultimately benefit U.S. agriculture. That roughly matches Trump's overall approval rating of 79% among farmers, according to a Farm Pulse survey conducted around the same time."

That is not going to happen as this is the one spot where the Dems think they can find a group not benefiting economically under Trump. The reality is that SOME American farmers are hurting - but, less to do with China and more to do with large scale industrial farms producing too much and driving down prices - dairy is a great example. The days of family farms are ending and it had nothing to do with China. Further, if Trump got a better handle on controlling illegal immigration, he might be able to help the small, family farms.

Of course you are, that is the latest guidance from Priorities USA, which is specifically telling DNC candidates to deflect away from Black and Latino employment numbers and "focus on farmers hurt by the trade war."

These numbers are terrible for the Dem's Narrative, so the Useful Idiots of the DR Left are weeping about the poor farmers rather than accept this as great news for a long neglected faction of the Democratic Party.

At least Eberly actually answered.

Goldberg accused me of not caring, and RightoCenter decided I was pushing some group's agenda - or that I couldn't possibly have asked something like that without being providing talking points.

It was pretty simple. There'a a thread on the DR about it. 1 + 1 = 2.

Aren't they just a bunch of racist rednecks who Democrats deem as depolorables?

The Obama economy was a joke. Historically, the bigger the recession the bigger the growth that follows. The growth of the Obama economy was anemic and it ultimately came to be described by his own team as "the new normal".

His rhetoric was habitually hostile toward business.

His regulations were onerous, unnecessary and choked growth.

He did everything in his power to blunt fossil fuel usage. From slow-walking lease approvals to blocking initiatives like Keystone to throwing tax dollars at failed business models like Solyndra. He used the EPA as a political cudgel when congress didn't pass Cap-n-Trade. Thanks mostly to innovations like fracking and horizontal drilling on state lands energy production increased in spite of Obama's best efforts to prevent it.

Giving Obama credit for the hot economic growth and low unemployment enjoyed today is the height of partisan nonsense.

#43 | Posted by JeffJ at 2019-09-09 09:05 AM | Reply

From someone who is in the Heartland, working directly with Farmers and businesses related to farming.....we were going to be in cycle of lower grain prices either way.

Yes, trade issues with China are also compounding this issue...I'm not trying to downplay that at all.

We are in a cycle of a surplus of ag commodities which is putting downward pricing pressure....this was a cycle we'd be in if Hillary had won.

The China thing will work itself out in time, IMO. I don't know if the terms will get better but we have to sell to China and China has to buy.

#9 | Posted by SheepleSchism

Felt the need to go all the way back to this one. Yes IMHO farmers made some damned poor choices. They are going to pay for it and when the bankruptcies start rolling in they will still support Trump and the GOP. Farmers are decision makers in most cases. Farmers elected and stand by the guy ruining their business. The voted in and stand behind their bad choice for their livelihoods.

When it comes to retail, I personally am caring for the people at these companies. Both used to be power houses but have been in decline for decades. The people working at them have nothing to do with management choices - unlike farmers voting in their demise.

Sears (KMart is a part of Sears) is a major corporation and that's pure capitalism at work. KMart buying Sears was the end for Sears. Such inept and poor management it's priceless. I am dead serious about that. They have been in decline for what? 30 years? KMart has been in decline for at least 40 years.

JC Penny - well again a series of management debacles and retail industry in general in a tail spin. Remember them bringing the CEO that got rid of "sales" and had everything just marked at "sale" prices?

Oh, my bad. I meant "during," not that i was working in those administrations (though i did work for the federal government for a few years). But the argument by some is that obtaining employment during an administration makes one more likely to vote for the current president. When it comes to blacks and Trump i find that connection to be suspect.

Are we going to revise this like we did last year's numbers? 500,000 fewer jobs created last year than was reported previously.

Also, I'd love to know what changed in a month that led to a .8% change. That's a rather huge jump that doesn't correlate to the rest of the employment figures.
