The U.S. Air Force has ordered a world-wide review of how it chooses overnight accommodations on long flights following revelations that air crews had occasionally stayed at President Donald Trump's Scotland resort while refueling at a small commercial airport nearby.

So instead of using a military base and staying for free, the Air Force is paying Trump's hotel, 23 miles from a for-profit airport, for lodging? And Trump says he has nothing to do with it?

Oh come on, everyone stops at Trump Turnberry on their way home from Kuwait.

markedly different than the Marriotts and Hiltons the 176th maintenance squadron is used to

It's been awhile since I read a more Air Force quote than this one. Wow. Lol.

Reposting because the Airforce is boujee when it comes to accommodations

Who provided security for the aircraft? Were the avionics, communications gear, or cargo classified?

They were a maintenance squadron, not a ----- squad.

US Air Force fuel purchases at Prestwick Airport started in October 2017 and have totaled $17.2 million, not the $11 million previously reported

That's $6.2 million Trump just pocketed off the backs of the American taxpayer.

Just another reason to not release your taxes.

Makes it more difficult for anyone to keep track of how much he's pocketing.

I doubt that is true. Does donald own the airport? Not likely or it would be called "donald Airport".

I'm curious as to whether the USAF used this airport before donald was president.

If they did, no big deal. If they didn't, it becomes suspicious.

@#7 ... I'm curious as to whether the USAF used this airport before donald was president. ...

Good question, but I'd separate the use of the airport, which could be legit, from stays at the Trump property if other accommodations are available, which would be suspicious.

Does donald own the airport?

No, but he does own the resort they stayed at.

As it's been pointed out in #1:

I separate them as well. I'm more interested in the airport contracts since they are a lot more of taxpayer's money than hotel charges, however ridiculous they were.

Donald doesn't own the airport, but he does need the airport to stay open because it's near his golf course. Trump worked hard for years trying to make sure the airport didn't close down:

Yippers on that.

However (you knew, there'd be a "however" :) ), the reason I have a concern about the Trump hotel charges are not for the amount of money but the constitutionality.

The emoluments clause is there for a reason.

A President should not profit off the presidency that is loaned to him. Period. Full stop.
