The former oil man and venture capitalist, who called Dallas home for decades, began receiving hospice care last week. He died from natural causes at home with family by his side.

This billionaire had the best hospice care money could buy.

Yet millions of Americans die every year in pain due to not having access to hospice care.

Pickens had a great plan for transitioning the US away from foreign energy and toward a mix of wind power and natural gas, but as soon as a rich old white man proposed a greener solution, liberals HATED IT. Why? Because he would make money, and that's a sin nowadays. In the end, that's not what killed the plan, but I remember vividly reading arguments like "I could support it except that it's clearly being driven by profit motive." Good example of the "morals and politics" problem.

He recognized that wind and solar were viable alternatives to fossil fuel--an unusual position for an oilman. He did give away a lot of money, for causes that many on the Left would cheer, even knowing the source of that money. Not being an Okie native I don't know that much about him, other than his name is in various places on the campus of Oklahoma State University, where reportedly he will be buried.

RIP, and thanks for the dough...
