While some may be anticipating sparks to fly between Democratic candidates onstage, the Trump campaign plans to literally fly its counter messaging in the air above Houston ahead of Thursday's debate.

Funny, I don't recall economies being killed or the country falling to bits in the 80's or 90's. Or 50's or 60's. 70's maybe? 00's?

Because so far it seems that "soshulizm" means going back to any place before last year.

This is perfectly honest for one obvious reason: Sanders has redefined big welfare state capitalism as "socialism." And all the Democrats have trillions of dollars of new spending programs on their agenda.

Blame Sanders for giving the GOP a talking point.

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

He can't tell the truth. He never admits he's wrong. He never apologizes for anything. He's a bully. He likes to be cruel to people. All he cares about is himself. He doesn't read. He doesn't take advice. He's impulsive. He's reckless. He has no core.

It's tribalism. It's to remind the cult members of there place.

The majority of Americans want democratic socialism. Which means we want to use our taxes to fund education and healthcare, rather than subsidizing corporations (who don't need it), or increasing our already bloated MIC budget.

And the way Bernie defines Democratic socialism includes FDR:

Bernie Sanders defines his vision for democratic socialism in the United States

Sanders gave a speech on this in 2015. Now he's back, calling for a new era of New Deal politics.

"Over 80 years ago, Franklin Delano Roosevelt helped create a government that made transformative progress in protecting the needs of working families. Today, in the second decade of the 21st century, we must take up the unfinished business of the New Deal and carry it to completion," he said. "This is the unfinished business of the Democratic Party and the vision we must accomplish."

"If the GOP and Trump continue to go all out on being anti-socialism and mislabeling what socialism is, it will be easier for Democrats to explain the kinds of corporate "socialism" Republicans support versus the kinds of "socialism" that help everyday people like Medicare."

This from Bernie's speech linked to in post #43:

Now let's be clear: while President Trump and his fellow oligarchs attack us for our support of democratic socialism, they don't really oppose all forms of socialism.

They may hate democratic socialism because it benefits working people, but they absolutely love corporate socialism that enriches Trump and other billionaires.
Let us never forget the unbelievable hypocrisy of Wall Street, the high priests of unfettered capitalism.

In 2008, after their greed, recklessness and illegal behavior created the worst financial disaster since the Great Depression " with millions of Americans losing their jobs, their homes and their life savings " Wall Street's religious adherence to unfettered capitalism suddenly came to an end.

Overnight, Wall Street became big government socialists and begged for the largest federal bailout in American history " some $700 billion from the Treasury and trillions in support from the Federal Reserve.

But it's not just Wall Street that loves socialism " when it works for them. It is the norm across the entire corporate world. The truth is corporate America receives hundreds of billions of dollars in federal support every single year, while these same people are trying to cut programs that benefit ordinary Americans.

It doesn't matter. Conservatives control the narrative. Socialism is what they say it is, and they hate it!

Socialism is the new communism. All the hippest conservatives are against it.

Besides, they'd rather use their taxes to subsidize corporations, the MIC, and Israel's socialist programs.

Because, our tax dollars are getting spent. Just, not on anything that benefits Americans. Screw you Mr and Mrs John Q. Public! The rich have better uses for your money than to spend it on you.

Besides. Go buy healthcare. Unlike socialism, where everyone pools their money together to spend in times of need. Insurance companies pool your money together so the CEOs can buy new mansions and yachts.

That's capitalism, baby.

It's not a matter of socialism vs no socialism, it's a matter of socialism for whom as Bernie makes clear in that same speech:

When Trump screams socialism, all of his hypocrisy will not be lost on the American people. Americans will know that he is attacking all that we take for granted: from Social Security to Medicare to veterans health care to roads and bridges to public schools to national parks to clean water and clean air.

When Trump attacks socialism, I am reminded of what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "This country has socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for the poor."

And that is the difference between Donald Trump and me. He believes in corporate socialism for the rich and powerful.

I believe in a democratic socialism that works for the working families of this country.

Tax payers taxes provide for education and subsidize corporations. Insurance (healthcare) is a capitalist version of socialism. Which mainly benefits the rich.

What pet project?

War in Iraq, war in Libya, war in Syria. Keeping troops in Afghanistan to protect natural resources.

BTW: The Rich are the Blue states, the rich are Liberals!

There are plenty of rich conservatives in blue states. Matter of fact, we just had a thread about Trump receiving the majority of his campaign contributions from California. California is a blue state. (Not sure if you knew any of this, you seem so ignorant.)

If you are a fossil fuel company, whose carbon emissions are destroying the planet, you get billions in government subsidies including special tax breaks, royalty relief, funding for research and development and numerous tax loopholes.

If you are a pharmaceutical company, you make huge profits on patent rights for medicines that were developed with taxpayer funded research.

If you are a monopoly like Amazon, owned by the wealthiest person in America, you get hundreds of millions of dollars in economic incentives from taxpayers to build warehouses and you end up paying not one penny in federal income taxes.

If you are the Walton family, the wealthiest family in America, you get massive government subsidies because your low wage workers are forced to rely on food stamps, Medicaid and public housing in order to survive " all paid for by taxpayers.

If you are the Trump family, you got $885 million worth of tax breaks and subsidies for your family's housing empire that is built on racial discrimination.

Socialism is a scareword they have hurled at every advance the people have made in the last 20 years. Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security. Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.
