The fact that everybody is profiting from college athletes from million dollar coach contracts to college perks for bowl wins but the athletes are paid zilch! Athletes have made scrounging for a meal on campus "normal". This bill is long overdue.

Stupid on the part of CA. They will simply not be allowed to compete in NCAA sanction events. If they are paid, they are profession and not amateurs.

"but the athletes are paid zilch!"

Well, other than a full scholarship, meal plan, housing, tutoring, and the best athletic training that money can buy. Stop crying for college athletes.

Many of the college football players are compensated with a 4 year education and perks. That's a professional player. An amateur is a walk-on paying to be there.

I sort of agree with this. These are young men and women who are over 18. And if they are part of the reason the University is making millions, they need to be paid. Colleges have been exploiting students, especially black student athletes for many years..

Simple solution: compel the NFL to follow the NBA, NHL, and MLB in removing the college requirements and allow these kids to be drafted out of high school.

It won't work of course, with limited exceptions, but it will give some of these "student athletes" who can't string a coherent thought together the option of making money instead of playing for a school.

And that is about 80k for 4 years work. If that isn't at least semi-pro I don't know what that is.
