Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

House Democrats this week came out in support of taking guns away from some Americans, but opposed using so-called red flag laws to take guns away from gangs. The Democrat-majority House Judiciary Committee approved allowing the federal government to intervene in some cases to take guns away from someone considered an extreme risk, but Democrats rejected a GOP-proposal that would red-flag gang members, the Washington Examiner reported.

Republicans want the gestapo to disarm US citizens, but are against letting citizens red flag people they fear will commit gun crimes.

Why does the GOP protect crazy murderers?

DemoKKKrats only want to take guns from law abiding citizens. In other words, people who will not vote for them.

Red flag gang members? As if they have legal weapons. Just harass millions of lawful owners instead.

Good. The pending federal bill bows to the lowest common denominator among state legislation. Instead of establishing a floor for basic due process the bill encourages state procedures that are so lax as to afford almost no protections for those faced with having their constitutional rights taken away.

The bill should either die or be scrapped and start over. Rushing to "do something" is not a path to good policy.

Were you reading a different article than the rest of us are?

"The Democrat-majority House Judiciary Committee approved allowing the federal government to intervene in some cases to take guns away from someone considered an extreme risk, but Democrats rejected a GOP-proposal that would red-flag gang members"

Is completely missing the point a Canadian thing?

No due process? No right to face your accuser? No trial?

Here's how it all goes down: www.youtube.com

Why? What was the rationale for exempting gang members?

Thanks, 'War on Drugs!'

Chicago is the major distribution for most of the eastern U.S. This is a repeat of the Capone-bootleg booze wars of the 1920's but over drugs. After Prohibition was repealed the gangland killings stopped. But we haven't learned from history as a nation.

The amendment is not an exemption its an expansion of a flawed bill. The objection is blanket rules, see "Don't Fly, Don't Buy."

Follow the story and the next suggestion was "anything supremacist."
