Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, September 17, 2019

After 16 seasons, 234 games, more than 8,000 passes, 362 touchdowns and, most important, two Super Bowl victories, Eli Manning has lost his job as the Giants' starting quarterback. With the Giants off to an 0-2 start, the team announced on Tuesday that Manning, 38, would be benched in favor of the rookie Daniel Jones. ... Since his second Super Bowl win, after the 2011 season, the team has made the playoffs only once, losing in the first round in January 2017.

What is a Super Bowl?

One could say this isn't fair because the 2 wins were starter games against the Bills. The Bills are lucky they have Allen as a starter. Time will tell if this kid was a good investment?

But it is a fair call, IMO.

Eli is old in quarterback years. He's not 20 year old rookie. I can hear the rust settling in those shoulder joints.

Those two games were against the #1 LOSER team in NFL, the Buffalo Bills. A good quarterback does not make a great team.

The Giants got beat by THE BILLS???!!!

Take a bench, Eli. Get your papers in order.

The Bills aren't THAT bad this year. Especially at a 2-0 start.

The problem is Eli can't carry the Giants anymore. He's too old. Frankly, I'm not sure any quarterback could carry the Giants this year or last. There is no offensive in New York.

2 years too late. The Giants owe Ben McAdoo an apology.

Eli was never Peyton, but he's got 2 rings and vault full of money.

That's better than most QB's.

That's better than many hall of famers. I don't understand why he tried to stick it out for another year. Waiting was in the wall with Jones' drafting. Should have walked away knowing he'd inevitably be benched.

Peyton did. Well, I should say, he was benched before the Chargers game, then came in at the half and pulled out an all timer, leading him to another super bowl.

Well, we've only seen 2 games thus far this year.

The Bills had one of the worst team records last year not to mention all the other rash of games they've lost over the years. They're putting their hopes in their QB Allen. Uh right.

The Bills lost to the Giants (0-2). Let's see Allen play against the Pats (2-0) or Houston (1-1). Not counting on Miami (0-2) to ruffle his feathers too much. New York has the losein-est (not a word) pig-meat teams ever. Don't get me started on the Jets (0-2).

Not sure about what to say about Detroit(1-0-T), Browns (0-2), or the Ain'ts (1-0-T). Those three were some f-up teams last I saw.

Yes, Manning is old. Even Phil Simms went out in a blaze of glory. Now the burden is on Danny-boy. Maybe he can deliver?

Eli is done.

The Lions are the Lions. It's objectively the worst franchise in professional sports history.

The only 2 cool things about the franchise are the Thanksgiving day game tradition (it dates back to the '30's and they've never missed a year) and the Barry Sanders highlight videos on Youtube.

Buccaneers are going to destroy this rookie with their pass rush.
Disrespectful to start a rookie against our defense
