In the 1970s, '80s and '90s, as Stoller explains, Democrats altered their economic vision. They abandoned New Deal and Great Society liberalism in favor of a new dogma that came to be known as neoliberalism " a view of society in which markets and financial instruments, rather than government policy and direct intervention, are seen as the best way to achieve social ends. Obama's biggest ideas were neoliberal: The Affordable Care Act, his greatest domestic policy achievement, improved access to health care by altering private health-insurance markets. Obama aimed to address the climate crisis by setting up a market for carbon, and his plan for improving education focused on technocratic, standards-based reform. Over the course of his presidency, inequality grew, and Obama did little to stop it. While much of the rest of the country struggled to get by, the wealthy got wealthier and multimillionaires and billionaires achieved greater political and cultural power.

I said here once, the Kenyan is the most polarizing President in American history.... and all the liberal brigade jumped down my throat.

I was young in spirit back then and was known for my gentle ways! I did not really have an idea of the passive-aggressive tendencies of the liberal brigade.

Allah has given me much strength since then! Now I'm gonna slap you silly in the head!

America deserves Trump. If it hadn't been for the Kenyan and his Kenyan ways, there would be no reaction that would breed a DOTARD in office.

In the 1970s, '80s and '90s, as Stoller explains, Democrats altered their economic vision.

Democrats went from bottom up socialism (hippie, communes, co-ops etal), to a top down socialist vision (nationalized everything).

You can't be a bottom up socialist, and fly around the country in your G6.

Obama raised the minimum wage for federal workers and wanted to raise the minimum wage for all workers. Republicans wouldn't have it.

House Democrats tried to raise the federal minimum wage in July. McConnell wouldn't even allow a vote and Republicans would have killed it anyway.

Don't bother trying to argue that Obama did little to stop inequality. Inequality is basically core Republican policy.
