Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania stopped producing electricity at noon on Friday, part of Exelon Corp.'s plan to close and decommission the plant over the next 60 years.

Remember when the movie "China Syndrome" came out about the same time as the accident there 40 years ago? Jane Fonda and Michael Douglas starred.

I learned a lot about the media in 1979. We had the worst tornado in history to that point in Wichita Falls which killed 53 people and leveled or damaged about a third of the homes. Two days later Three Mile Island occurred. No one in the area was killed or injured but it was nuclear. Not one more word about some red neck hick town in Texas somewhere.
