President Trump's administration now employs more ex-lobbyists in Cabinet-level positions than the George W. Bush and Obama administrations did during two terms in office.

...you do know how a revolving door works, right? Do you understand why they call it a revolving door?

You are right. Usually it does. Not for modern day Republicans, though. You built that.

See, usually government service in positions like this is an investment, sorta like college. You aren't paid much (comparatively, because government jobs don't pay well compared to the private sector) but you are building up both knowledge (how things work, what the decision making process is like, and what the roadblocks are) as well as connections (personal relationships with the people in government). Once you leave government, you can then get a job in the private sector where you monetize your knowledge and connections and make lots of money.

But, now we see a much higher percentage of people moving from private sector lobbying to the (non-well paying) government jobs. Why would they do that? Why take a significant pay cut when they already have the money and connections in the private sector? What are they getting out of it?

The answer is pretty clear. They aren't taking a pay cut. Modern day Republicans have normalized corruption. They are monetizing the office WHILE IN OFFICE. And Republicans don't care. Look at how many in the Trump administration have had to resign due to scandals that became public. We all know that only scratches the surface of what is actually happening in this Republican administration.

The revolving door was rightly criticized because it could allow undue influence by potential "future employers" on current government employees. But that was not enough for Republicans. You have jumped from "undue influence" straight to "outright corruption".

Like Trump, many in lucrative positions are leaving them to work for less pay in the service of their country. This naturally angers the deep state because they believe government jobs are their birthright. They see government jobs as a stepping stone to greater wealth after leaving government service where they can monetize their connections. Fixed that for you.

Lol... really?

You think Trump is some saint who sacrificed his "lucrative position" to run for office in "service of his country"?

I think you are getting brain damage from drinking all that koolaid.

You chump. They leave industry to come work for trump so they can rewrite the rules on their industry, then go back to their industry to reap the rewards of the corruption they participated in.
