"We hope that they don't make a strategic mistake" as they have before, Salami said, before listing past United States (US) military "adventures" against Iran.

The Guards commander was speaking at Tehran's Islamic Revolution and Holy Defence museum during the unveiling of an exhibition of what Iran says are the US and other drones captured in its territory.

"What are your drones doing in our airspace? We will shoot them down, shoot anything that encroaches on our airspace," said Salami, noting Iran had overcome "America's technological dominance" in air defence and drone manufacture.

Whatever....

Even the Germans couldn't bring the fight to the American continent, and they were much better equipped to do so.

I'm sure they'll shoot down a few drones, but that is hardly making the US a battlefield.

Too bad Reagan wasn't president in 1979. Things would be a lot different now and this current picking a fight by siezing oil tankers and droning oil fields would probably not be happening.

Let's all play the "too bad" game!

Too bad Reagan was President in the 1980s, and cut and run after terrorists bombed the Marine barracks in Lebanon, and did nothing after terrorists hijacked TWA 847, and did nothing after Leon Klinghoffer took a swim in his wheelchair, and did nothing after terrorist killed 248 soldiers aboard Arrow Air 1285.

Reagan could act tough, but was a coward.

If it hadn't been for Reagan, Pakistan might not have nukes today.

We regard him as one of the best Presidents ever... a true friend.

Once upon a time, Pakistan was stuck in it's nuke design.. until Reagan sent a plastic nuke (full size model) and had it assembled on President Zia's desk. It came with a note, "We know THIS is your nuke. Nothing is hidden from us! Please stop NOW!" (probably trying to impress President Zia by showing him the awesome power of CIA intel)

President Zia called his scientist and said, "You said you weren't getting anywhere... the Americans claim you have completed a nuke... "

Scientist, looking at the plastic model. said, "We will complete it now... there is the missing piece of the puzzle (pointing at the model).. we hadn't even thought of doing THAT!"

(true story)

but that is hardly making the US a battlefield.

Iranians love to mouth off.

Seems to be a national habit.

Reality is kookier than fiction.

Reagan was a great president. Greatest of my lifetime with the exception of Eisenhower who was president when I was born. But Eisenhower's greatness was more as a general and of course the architect of Dday.

My dad is from the town Eisenhower was born in, Denison, Texas. Eisenhower came to Denison in 1946 to a huge parade. The local schools had a contest writing patriotic essays with an unannounced surprise for the winner.

My dad won the contest for the fourth graders. (to this day, he is a very good writer) The surprise? He got to meet Eisenhower and shake his hand at the end of the parade. My father loves the story and as recently as two years ago he was telling me he remembers the moment as vividly as if it was yesterday.

It was written up in the local Denison paper and I have a yellowed and brittle clipping

I thought it was a cool story.

Indeed.

Ike is widely regarded as the best US President of the 20th Century.

I agree, but playing devil's advocate, the US could do no wrong post WW2, being the only country in the world with an infrastructure able to produce anything. (Ike took office in 1953 < 8 years after the war endded) Still, I do agree, he was a great general and great president. If Mt. Rushmore accepted another stone head, it should be his.

How about a Conex with a nuclear weapon on board? Say in the port of Newark. Before it ever hits inspection, out in the harbor about two miles from Manhattan.

Ike should have hung Joseph McCarthy out to dry sooner than he did.(Lord knows he needed a good drying out). I note that Truman did nothing for two years, and both Nixon and JFK were on the HUAAC with Tail gunner Joe in charge. By '53 Joe was doing more than a fifth daily, almost as much as Teddy Kennedy.
All this stupid drama was based on the Verona Transcripts, the intelligence agencies,(the CIA was only a few months old), wanted to use the intel to turn the useful idiots who had cooperated with the Soviets knowingly or not, but Joe wanted power. Guess who won?

My gosh some of you are stupid!!!! Ike is rolling over in his grave at what the new "know nothing party is" he warned about the MIC. Even" ol soft brain" himself would be aghast at what you worship today. My gosh you Russians are sick!!!

#14 | Posted by zelkova Maybe reality might seep in, Russia only maters because of their possession of ICBMs. Other wise they are a poor Eastern European nation with oil and gas to sell. They have a stagnant population and a economy on par with South Korea, a nation with a 1/5th the population.

Too bad Reagan wasn't president in 1979.

He could have sold them weapons illegally earlier?

On Arrow Air flight 1285,

The accident was investigated by the Canadian Aviation Safety Board (CASB), which determined the probable cause of the crash was the aircraft's unexpectedly high drag and reduced lift condition, most likely due to ice contamination on the wings' leading edges and upper surfaces, as well as underestimated onboard weight.
