Robert Costa: Several Senate Republicans were privately stunned Wednesday and questioned the White House's judgment after it released a rough transcript of President Trump's call with the Ukraine president that showed Trump offering the help of the U.S. attorney general to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

The fallout from this witch hunt that ignores wrongdoing by both sides is going to hurt America permanently. The precedent the Dems are creating is that America can't use our resources as leverage for wrongdoings. This is something done on many occasions and is going to come up with every single deal America makes now going forward...where the party not in power is going to make this a problem. Happens all the time. One could actually argue that the Reps created the precedent after Obama sent Iran money for doing something he wanted and the Reps went ape ---- over it.

That supports what I've been saying all along. Once one party sets a precedent, it doesn't go away. It only gets abused even more by both parties.

The problem is not that the President tried to go after corruption. I am all for going after corruption. The problem is he is going after a political opponent. Are you claiming that Biden is the only corrupt American associated with Ukraine (I am "assuming" he is for your benefit... the points to no corruption in the case of Biden and Ukraine). We KNOW that is not the case based upon prosecutions of people associated with the Trump campaign. So why is Biden the only one mentioned?

I will tell you why. Because the "wrongdoing" you are talking about was that Biden speaks against Trump. Republicans don't now care about corruption and never have. What they care about is people using their "freedom of speech" to criticize said Republicans. And they feel it is just to use their elected position to go against those people who disagree with them.

YOU built that.

And, just to be clear, I am not really directing this at you. You will probably read this and agree completely. And see no problem with it (abusing government power to suppress constitutional rights). But, my hope is that OTHER PEOPLE (who actually care about our constitution) read this and see Republicans for who they really are. Because supporting corruption and abuse of power and unconstitutional behavior is NOT who America is, and I have faith that the majority will be on my side, not yours.

Is that in the transcript? I don't think so.

I don't think so.

You wouldn't think so, clearly. But we are ALL basing speculation on an incomplete transcript.

So, you're right, you don't think so.

Please identify said wrong doings and explain why they weren't investigated right when GOP took over in 2017.

If half of Senate Republicans can see this is an impeachable offense Trump's impeachment is around the bend.
