How to gerrymander: import millions of illegal immigrants, encourage them to settle in swing states, or states that can be turned blue like Texas, and give them amnesty and citizenship.

Yea. Right. You're the guy who called me a racist because I disagreed with Obama's policies.

You're a self-proven race-baiter. So shove your brown people BS.

#2 That's not gerrymandering at all, moron.

so does the gerrymandering process. It takes decades when you figure you have to control a state legislature and it's only allowed like every 10 years to re-draw those maps. The GOP has been focused on this for a long time.

Didn't illegal immigration decrease and deportation increase under Obama?

Oh sorry! I forgot you live in a different reality than the rest of us. How's the weather there?

Saw this before I logged in.

I'm beginning to believer you're manic-depressive. Up at all hours posting bullschitt morning until morning.

Again? LOL Yeah, right.

Clue for the clueless: Log in first, then you won't accidentally see my posts. I mean after dozens of times one would think you would learn this. LOL

PS - You stick up for racists, GOATMAN, of which NULLI has indicated he is with his constant disparagement of brown people.

The same guy you used to disparagingly call "DULLIBOY" before he went all right wing like you are, man who sticks up for the looniest schitt on this site and trolls 24/7.

BTW, you KNOW I have you plonked. If you want to talk behind my back, be a f*****g man and send me an email with your rants. It's more honest than what you're doing.

So? I am supposed to care what a person too stupid to know how to prevent seeing my posts thinks of me?

" never called you a racist. "

Actually you did. More than once in fact.

"You are mentally ill, though."

Again, I am supposed to care what a person too stupid to figure out how to not see my posts thinks of me?

I don't.

OK, I get it that you are too stupid to understand how plonking works and what it takes to keep from "accidentally" seeing my posts. But are you also too stupid to know how not to reply? LOL

Apparently you are.

That's not always the case. In 2003, after winning a majority in the Texas STATE legislature, the Republicans threw-out the 2001 court-drawn Congressional district map, which was based on the 2000 census, and forced thru a new highly gerrymandered Congressional map ahead of the 2004 elections. Their argument was that while the law said that they were required to use the data collected during the decennial census to draw Congressional districts, no where did it say that they couldn't draw a new map anytime that they wanted during the 10 year window. And they got away with because in 2006, the US Supreme Court ruled that there was nothing stopping a state from drawing new electoral maps as often as they wanted, as long as they used the data from the previous census since that's ALL that was actually spelled-out in the Constitution.

BTW, Republicans would like to only use the number of citizens in a state when it comes to drawing the electoral maps, and some want to go so far as to only use the number of registered voters. Their argument is that since these maps are to define how and where people vote, that they should only be effected by the number of actual voters in the state, or at least those legally eligible to vote. Of course, this would mean that a large percentage of the residents of a state would basically go unrepresented. This would include all non-citizens, anyone under 18 years of age, current and ex-felons (in most states), and anyone who, for whatever reason, never got around to registering to vote, or who had been purged from the voter rolls, for whatever reason. Of course, this would increase the influence of states with fewer immigrants, older populations, etc. This is precisely why the Trump administration spent over two years fighting to the get the citizenship question included on the 2020 Census forms, because before they could make these sorts of changes, they would need to get this information INTO the actual decennial CENSUS database since, as the courts have already ruled, this is the ONLY source for the data that can be used to determine the number of people who live in a state for purposes of creating the electoral maps.

As the Republican party continues to represent a smaller and smaller portion of the population of the country, they see gerrymandering as the ONLY way that they can remain politically relevant going into the future. And if they must continue to use the WHOLE NUMBER OF PERSONS living in a state when creating legislative and congressional districts, they know that it's going to get harder and harder to accomplish, even if they continue their efforts to gerrymander those legislative and congressional districts. There's a certain point at which even the most egregious efforts cannot overcome the pure weight of the numbers.

Gerrymandering made easy. Make it about politics instead of race, then it's ok according to the right wing, anti-American, conservative members of the SC.

That may have been part of their reason but Trump's reason was far more diabolical than that. They wanted to have a database with the addresses of every home in America that might have an illegal alien living there so they could send in ICE, arrest them and deport them. Trump has a deep seated hatred for brown or black people, he viscerally hates them. He is psychotic about it.

I am waiting for the right wing racist pieces of filth here in Florida to try and prevent the thousands of Puerto Ricans who came here after the hurricane wrecked their island from voting. My bet is they will wait til we are closer to the election, get a federal judge to rule that those people are not really citizens of the U.S. and it will be too close to the election to effectively appeal the decision. This is how the right strategizes things, they are cynical but they hire the smartest lawyers who know how to play the system.

Well, this is basically what they tried to do in Kansas last year when Republicans got the state courts to rule that if you didn't have an explicit street address you couldn't register to vote. Besides disenfranchising people who use a PO box, it also impacted anyone living on an Indian reservation, which was the real target of the Republicans, since historically, reservations are not plotted out with streets and boulevards.

In summary...do exactly what the politicians the decade before did, which they did what the politicians the decade before them did.

There's nothing new here. Liberals did it in the 90s, Cons are doing it now, and they are all following the same playbook as both parties (and a couple other now-defunct parties) did in the 1800s and 1900s.

It's not against the law, so Cons don't care. You are so hate-filled that you can't see past your own hate to see how stupid that sounds. Cons want people to follow the law in regards to anything immigration related. Liberals want people to break the law in regards to anything immigration related. If you actually spent the same amount of time trying to learn and be intelligent about politics as you do on creating hate-filled rhetoric just because someone has a different opinion than you, this site would be Dannirific. Until then, it's Dannidowner.

Illinois gerrymandered the heck out of everything. There are no GOPs in charge of anything. Gerrymandering is behind the economic death spiral Illinois is in.

"It's not against the law, so Cons don't care."

Plainly not true. Republicans have actually succeeded in stealing elections right here in Florida by using all sorts of dirty tricks, it's what they do, they spend millions of dollars and thousands of hours planning, strategizing and carrying out strategies to let them win elections regardless of laws, morals, or anything else. To Republicans winning is power and power is all they care about. You can make up crap about me all you want but I've been watching it happen down here most of my life and, in case you haven't noticed, I don't really value your opinion very much. I read some of your posts and usually they are simply idiotic. Sorry to be blunt but honesty is important.
