Ginger Baker, notorious hellraiser and celebrated drummer in the supergroup Cream, has died at the age of 80 at a hospital in the United Kingdom. "Dad passed away peacefully," his daughter Nettie Baker told CNN in a statement. "He was in no pain and had recently been able to see and speak to his children, close family and special friends."

Controversial, yes. Extremely talented, yes. Another musical icon of the past gone and I'm feeling older every time one passes. Gonna be a hell of a lineup of bands up there. RIP Ginger.

Got to see Ginger Baker's air Force at a music festival about a hundred years ago, what a great performance. RIP Mr. Baker.

My brother learned to do that drum solo in one of their songs but I couldn't name it. It was just too long ago. Everyone I knew back then loved their music and his drumming.

These musical deaths don't usually touch me, but Ginger Baker is one of the few Great Ones.
