Even the dissenting judge's opinion (she's a Trump appointee) on today's ruling - that Trump's taxes must be released from his accounting firm - stated that a president is not above the law and must adhere to the laws of the land and the checks and balances that make our democracy work.
Right is right, wrong is wrong. If a Democrat was doing the things Trump & Co are, I'd be equally as generous with my condemnation of them.
I grew up when we had drills to prepare in the event the Soviet Union attack us with nuclear weapons. Everyone in America was united in their condemnation of their government as our chief adversary. Putin, former head of the KGB for the Soviet Union, is every bit an equal adversary, seeking to destroy ours and other democracies around the world.
That a president of the United States treats him as a 'friend' and does his bidding (as he just did with Syria), and participates in underhanded schemes to undermine the credibility of elections within the U.S., and undermines America's reputation as a country who stands up for democratic principles, adds up to a person who's a dire threat to our democracy and standing in the world.
That's why I oppose Trump so vociferously. He isn't a Republican, he's an opportunistic narcissist without a political core. He is a despicable man, not an American patriot acting in America's best interests.
I didn't post here for 2 years after his election. The reason why is that I didn't respect him as a person, but like all other freely elected presidents, I wanted him to do well. So, I stood back to see what he'd do in the office. Only after he exposed himself to be a narcissistic self-seeker who did not stand up for America, and how he undermined all that I believed America is supposed to be and stand for, did I rejoin the conversation. Now, I speak my mind, based on the facts as they've been revealed.
No doubt GOATMAN or some other right winger who don't seem to care about what Trump is doing to this country will also flag this as 'Funny.' Help yourself. That's all Trump is doing in office. Helping himself.
