I suspect this is why all my wife's years working for the state education department weren't listed towards forgiveness as they should have been.

I've been telling her not to bank on forgiveness being available when she hits ten years but she's a more optimistic person than I am.

And let's not forget that many of these "public servants" are also often referred to as 'First Responders', like firemen, police officers, paramedics, etc, the vary people whom Trump so often goes out of his way to praise after some tragic event. And now Betsy DeVos is ignoring federal law, refusing to help these people get what was promised to them.

Betsy DeVos is a truly horrible human being, raised in wealth, never knew what it was like to be poor yet so willing to punish those who have come from poverty. If and when a Democrat is elected President, I hope his/her first order of business is to throw that bitch out of the Dept. of Ecucation.

Why should student loans be forgiven? When that happens, we, the tax payers are on the hook for the money.

It was part of the deal that the government made with them; go out and work in the public sector for 10 years and we'll help you by reducing the amount you still owe on your school loans. You still had to make payments for the first 10 years. These people were not going to get off by paying nothing. And if they didn't work in the public sector, they would still owe the full amount.

The bottom line; they kept their part of the deal, now it's time for Washington to keep theirs.
