Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, October 16, 2019

Donald Trump's alleged transgressions against women are numerous, and as a new book reveals, they stretch back far further than we've previously realized. In All the President's Women: Donald Trump and the Making of a Predator, journalists Barry Levine and Monique El-Faizy draw on over 100 interviews, many of them exclusive, to craft a detailed history of Trump's relationships with women, stretching back to his childhood and education as well as his rise through real estate, entertainment, and politics.

Everyone knows that Trump sexually assaults women. This isn't really "news" per se.

Republicans think that kind of behavior is acceptable. Democrats do not.

No one is going to change their vote, or even their view of Trump, over hearing more tales of him abusing his power to humiliate women.

Democrats still haven't learned, Republicans couldn't care less about Donnie's, or any Republican politician's, sexual indiscretions.

Roy Moore proved, pedophilia doesn't bother Republicans. Kavanaugh proved being a rapist wasn't a deal breaker for Republicans.

Unless it's homosexual in nature. Republicans don't care.

That's it. They don't actually stand for anything anymore.

They've given up being the party of family values. Given up being fiscally responsible. Given up on America.

They've become the party of tax cuts for the rich and the destruction of the federal government.

Our adversaries from around the world couldn't have as successful destroyed America as the Trumpublican party currently is.

Very true. Conservatives haven't stood for anything for quite a while. That is why they elected Donald Trump. And is why they continue to support him. Even though he has accomplished pretty much nothing. Because he flings gradeschool insults at his political opponents and "pwns" liberals on twitter.

Speaking of "memes" that have been around for about two months, what was it you keep saying about people who toss around insults? Because that is what the Republican party elevated to the pinnacle of their party. That is what conservatives have become. As you say, it is very sad. Mainly because it is true.

But, you seem to disagree. So please enlighten me. What IS IT that you think conservatives stand for. And please use corroborating examples from the actions of the current administration and political leadership to support your assertions.

A concern troll is someone who disingenuously visits sites of an opposing ideology to disrupt conversation by offering unwanted advice on how to solve problems which do not really exist. Topics of "concern" usually involve tactical use of rhetoric, site rules, or with more philosophical consistency. The concern troll's posts are almost exclusively intended to derail the normal functions of their targeted website.

Alternatively, a concern troll is someone who enters a discussion with a pre-formed opinion contrary to the majority opinion, but pretends to conform in order to subtly sow dissent and doubt without being called on it. Such attempts often begin with the troll raising "concerns" about the topic of the discussion, hence the name.

While this is a common internet phenomenon, the term is open to misuse. More paranoid circles may accuse someone of being a concern troll for the simple crime of not blindly agreeing with all of the group's dogma.

A typical formulation might involve the troll's invocation of a site's espoused ideals alongside a perceived example of hypocrisy (such as contrasting "we value free speech" with the banning of a "dissenter"), and with a call for some relevant reform by the troll. This reform will frequently be burdensome or silly - the concern troll's message is: "I have some concerns about your methods. If you did these things to make your message less effective, it would be more effective."

One common tactic of concern trolls is the "a plague on both your houses" approach, where the concern troll tries to convince people that both sides of the ideological divide are just as bad as each other, and so no one can think themselves "correct" but must engage in endless hedging and caveats. This preys on a willingness to debate critics and allow dissent; everyone wastes time discussing the matter and bending over backwards, so as not to appear intolerant of disagreement, all to the great amusement of the troll.

If the troll provokes a negative response, it can be used to their advantage; the troll can later claim that their victims were unreasonable and closed-minded, doing damage to their reputation. The victims might be so on the defensive against further concern trolling that they end up disregarding and mistreating outsiders with genuine concerns. This makes it similar to sealioning.

Sometimes outsiders will come by and make concern troll-like statements sincerely. Some are sincere but stupid. Some may be insightful, and justified iconoclasts, merely making valid observations unwelcome to the dominant ideology or culture of the forum (the Cassandra syndrome[note 1]). Often, of course, the person is misguided, wrong, and not intending to troll. However, an unsolicited tone argument is, in practical terms, not really any different.

Goat,

Chuffy made a mistake and acknowledged it. That's more than many on this site would do.

#73 | POSTED BY JEFFJ "

He acknowledged it because he got caught. Even then he said was an act of trolling. Doesn't sound that contrite to me.

I'm skeptical. He made that "mistake" about a month ago. That time I just mentioned it and let it pass. I find it odd how someone could forget to cite his sources twice like that.

But I guess it's possible.

I might take a tour through his user page and see if he "forgot" any other citations. A plagiarized text is pretty easy to spot.

If he is the re-incarnation of who I think he is, that poster would "forget" to cite sources as well making them look like his own. But it would be unfair to hang that on shuffy just because they have similar posting styles.

That's fair. Chuffy is less of a rabble-rouser than some, hence my comment. Certain others on this site...they deserve everything they get, and then some.

JEFFJ: I'm as big of a rabble-rouser as anyone, thankyouverymuch. Anyone with half a brain can tell that bit I copied/pasted isn't my own work, and I didn't claim it to be, either, but I'm actively trying to avoid feeding the troll (as I write this, he's responsible for 31% of the comments on this thread alone, LOL)...

Ah, screw it:

Add "Sealioning" (from the concern troll link above) to the GOAT-TROLL's trolling bandolier:

"Sealioning involves jumping into a conversation with endless polite, reasonable questions and demands for answers, usually of entry-level topics far below the actual conversation (e.g. "please prove sexism exists"). This tactic differs little from harassment; instead of discussion, the point is to derail discussion, receive criticism (for their ignorance) so as to look like a victim, or to make someone feel overwhelmed and quit talking. It is comparable to running a filibusterWikipedia's W.svg (or perhaps a filibustering technique) and preventing anything getting done. The nature of Twitter makes it particularly easy to sealion -- since everything is extremely compressed.

A particularly toxic thing about sealioning is that people who are genuine newbies asking serious questions are easy to mistake for sealions.

The term originally gained prominence for describing the Gamergate strategy of flooding people with a barrage of demands for proof that Gamergate was harassing people."

They were the original wallpaper, and they also helped insulate the old stone castles from the outside cold.

And of course the king could get a handful behind them as the thread suggests.

JEFFJ: most of that was directed to the goat boy,

I shifted in the middle of my reply to you. Like, after saying I was trying not to feed the troll, I decided to give him a snack. I haven't seen a need for you to consider medications yet, just Mr. 31%

I've been working on the troll for a few days now. It thinks it is arguing and winning arguments maybe, I don't know. I got bored and am now mostly ignoring it. That bugs attention whores more than anything.

Is this chuffyspeak for ,"I'm weaseling out of my wager?" If so, have the cojones to say so.

The fool is the one who has the keys to a solution of a problem, but opts to whine about the problem rather than use those keys.

Without more proof to the contrary, it seems obvious to me that Chuffy simply forgot to give the link for his quoted post. Unless he is a very unskillful plagiarist, why else would he include the following, emphasis mine:

"Sometimes outsiders will come by and make concern troll-like statements sincerely. Some are sincere but stupid. Some may be insightful, and justified iconoclasts, merely making valid observations unwelcome to the dominant ideology or culture of the forum (the Cassandra syndrome[note 1])."

Love it, as the lefties will fall for any allegation against Trump because they want to believe.

Given the history of ICE's lies on the Souther border, who wouldn't? Trump-Humpers? That's a given.

The miracle is that ICE might be telling the truth. This time. That is still undetermined, and I will not take their word for anything these days. They've lost their credibility.

And yours are arrogant and evasive. You love to act superior while proving your stupid enough to join the cult of a con man.

You never answered my question - how did you feel when you learned trump was filling his white house with lobbyists and bankers instead of draining the swamp? Did it bother you at all? Or is anything he does just fine with you because he hates the same people you hate?

Maybe trump threatens his grade school with law suits if they reveal his records like he does with his high school and colleges.

"During the hearing, Cohen presented a letter he wrote in May 2015 to Fordham University, where Trump went to school before transferring to University of Pennsylvania's Wharton, threatening legal action if Trump's grades ever became public. "

Stable geniuses always need to hide their grades right sucker?

Ray, do you think your #97 serves to help Trump, hurts Trump, or has nothing to do with Trump?

I mean, it's hard to call it carrying water.
More like carrying a used Trump Kleenex.
But you get my point.
