After President Trump gave Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan the green light to invade northern Syria last weekend, thus unleashing chaos in the region, Trump wrote him a very strange letter.

I can't believe this is real.

Jesus Christ righties. You really think this ------ is the best person available to run the country?

"You really think this ------ is the best person available to run the country... into the ground."

That's the goal of starve the beast conservatives. And the leader of Russia, coincidentally.

Trumpites want the fall of the First Republic of the United States. The Second Republic will make changes, including presidential succession by bloodline.

I can't believe this is real.

You're not alone - and I'm going to copy/paste from a thread yesterday:

Comments/headlines in the news about it, each a different source:
"This letter Trump sent to Erdogan is 'so weird we had to check with the White House to make sure it's real'"
"I thought this Trump letter was a joke ... it's real"
"Felt the need to ask WH if this is actually real and it is."
"Trump Sends Third-Grade Reading-Level Letter to Erdogan"

Masterpiece...

Trump nails it again, hopefully backs up every word.

Donaldo's letter to Erdogan will be remembered in international affairs as the 2019 version of the Cossaks letter to the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed IV....

Yeah, well, I don't know about the Cossacks letter. And I don't have time to look up what -nt means.

But this is a good letter.

Concise red light to Erdogan.

Memorable.

All the moreso because Erdogan had made up his mind.

Oh! By 'Cossacks' you meant the Zaporozhians. In 1676.

Of course.

#13 Intelligence is relative. Andrea, having an IQ of 60, is floored by the brilliance of this letter dictated by a man with an IQ of 80.

I just keep thinking about the troops who fought alongside the Kurds, being told to cut and run, and also to stand down while their allies were being mown down by Turkey. On top of that humiliation, hearing multiple times how we didn't have ammunition before Orange #45 the same day as orders to shell our ammo dumps are coming in, because we cut and run in such haste that we left all sorts of supplies and who knows what intel behind? Then, when the charlie foxtrot of this situation, which basically gave Putin his foothold in the ME and turned our allies into enemies and basically just restoring ISIS (will Turkey guard the prisoners? "I hope so."), to see this letter which was supposed to stop Erdogan?

Again, seems like the intro to The Rock II, IMO.

Another thought I keep having is, what was in the letter from General Mazloum, and was that sent in confidence to the Orange Menace? If you think it through...who will ever communicate with us if the Russians are involved? Scratch that, who can trust us again? Ever.

There is no doubt from this letter who has the upper hand in this relationship, and it's NOT Combover Quisling. This is the bully that just had his ass kicked yelling from half a block away that his dad is going to beat up your dad.

But this is a good letter. I read it to my 16 year-old and she laughed when I told her the POTUS actually sent that to the president of another country. I think your judgement on this letter is the baseline for anything else you say from now on, and that's not a compliment.

Concise red light to Erdogan. Erdogan blew through the red light laughing in Drumpf's face. I thought you said it was a "yellow light" a few days ago...is this your evidence that we have it all under control?

Memorable. A statement I think we all can agree upon. This portends to be memorialized in the history books of the United States forever.

All the moreso because Erdogan had made up his mind. I don't understand why that matters, and if it does, what does the next letter say? I haven't had a chance to tune into right wing hate radio in the last few days, so I don't know what the talking points are here. Can you explain what this means? What is the next logical move?

Anybody got an idea of where exactly the Kurds are supposed to go with their 120 hour reprieve?

#22 | Posted by tonyroma at 2019-10-17 03:02 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

Let's make statements we know are true:

It's a ------ situation Obama snuck us into.

To this day Congress refuses to declare war.

Congress came up with *a resolution* to condemn Trump for moving 17 troops but did not condemn Erdogan for invading.

It's a ceasefire.

Brokered by Pence.

The residents of the DR will find things to bitch about incessantly.

So it goes.

Hey Monte! You think the Dodgers have a chance in the World Series this year? 106 wins! And you still have Kershaw.

#29 | Posted by DixvilleNotch at 2019-10-17 03:46 PM | Reply | Funny: 1

Statements we know are true:

DJT ordered our troops to withdraw with no notice, no plan and no strategy, after a phone call with Erdogan.
DJT owns property in Istanbul.
Russia, Turkey and Iran benefit from the US withdrawal.
DJT writes letters at a 4th grade level.
The pause in the military operation ends in 120 hours, at which time Erdogan and Putin are scheduled to meet in Sochi.
Erdogan said, "This is not a ceasefire."
The US has agreed it will not sanction Turkey.
The demand from Erdogan is that if the Kurds don't abandon their homes within 5 days, the operation will resume.
The last time I checked, you can't "un-bomb" places you bombed.

I guess everything's been fixed! Great job everyone!

#30 You forgot about the US intentionally bombing its own base, a perfect metaphor for the entire Trump presidency.

Plato's Five Regimes:

Philosopher Plato discusses five types of regimes (Republic, Book VIII).

They are: Aristocracy, Timocracy, Oligarchy, Democracy, and Tyranny.

Plato also assigns a man to each of these regimes to illustrate what they stand for. The tyrannical man would represent Tyranny, for example. These five regimes progressively degenerate starting with Aristocracy at the top and Tyranny at the bottom.
