Vice President Mike Pence announced Thursday that the U.S. reached a cease-fire agreement with Turkey to suspend its military operation in Syria to allow Kurdish forces to retreat from a designated safe zone. Pence said that Turkey will suspend its military operations for 120 hours to allow Kurdish forces to leave the safe zone.

PENCE (in essence):

"We started a fire but now are sending fire trucks to put it out. Kurdish forces will withdraw so Russia can control the area. Oh, and we told Erdogan the sanctions probably won't hurt much."

Yea, and they're giving the Kurds 40 hours to pack-up and leave the area that the Turks want to occupy. Note that the during this big 'peace conference' that the US and Turkey held, there was no one there representing the Kurds. They were simply sent a message to get moving, or else.

Oh, and it also gives Trump 40 hours to move the rest of our troops out of Syria.

Awesome ... good for us.

Where does it say there was a "big peace conference"?

Kurdish forces will withdraw so Russia can control the area.

This was an eventuality, Syria and Russia have always been friends. Russia hasn't ever been constrained by humanitarian ethics like we are. Our only play, given this fact was to sit there in a stalemate until the end of time. To be played by all sides by our constraint, and to lose lives for no exist strategy.

This was Obama/Bush's fault for dragging us into and out of and back into a no win situation.

Well here is the no win, unless you want to take the gloves off, is this what you are saying, take the gloves off? Then vote to do so....

I assume you would agree with a resolution to declare war. This is why I say the Democrats are the party of War today.

Where is CodePink?

Trump: "I want to thank the Kurds, because they were incredibly happy with this solution. This is a solution that really - well it saved their lives, frankly. It saved their lives."

Reality:

The military alliance defending ethnic Kurds in northern Syria has already rejected a purported "ceasefire" agreement being touted by President Donald Trump.

According to Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst, the Syrian Democratic Forces are "rejecting the ceasefire" because it "achieves Turkey's original goal of moving Kurds from the border and having them give up heavy weapons."

Yingst went on to say that Trump's deal with the Turkish government would essentially force the Kurds to give up territory that has for years been their home.

Trust me, this is how Trump is going describe it tonight at his big rally in Dallas, that is, the meeting between Turkey, and Pence and Pompeo, from which this 'ceasefire' supposedly came. Trump's already heaping praise upon himself and Erdogan as he celebrates a 'great day for civilization'. The next thing we'll know, he'll be suggesting that this is Nobel Peace Prize material.

I am seeing reports that Turkey is not calling this a ceasefire...

'Pause of Turkey's op in Syria not cease-fire'
www.aa.com.tr

...The pause of Turkey's anti-terror operation in Syria is not a cease-fire, cease-fire can only happen between the two legitimate sides, the Turkish foreign minister said on Thursday....

Maddow tweeted reality, succinctly:
(1) turkey wants to push the kurds out of that part of syria.
(2) trump gives em the OK to invade.
(3) pence brokers a "deal" in which the kurds... must get out of that part of syria.
(4) the US agrees to un-sanction turkey.

Turkey got everything they wanted. That sure was some tough negotiation, Pence and Pompeo. /s

Our troops are out of an endless war. Who cares? Is TDS so strong in you that you would rather see our troops die?

Erdoran is also bragging that he got everything that he wanted from the Americans. And even Trump has now described the Turkish invasion of the border region as being necessary since "they had to have it cleaned out" (this is a direct quote from a Tweet Trump posted earlier in the day).

Correction, Trump didn't post the tweet, but it was a tweet quoting what Trump had said while answering questions earlier today.

No.. just our reputation with our friends
We pulled the rug out from under the Kurds.
That's why putting a game show host as president might not have been wise
